Which Way Do You Like Facing Your Portable In The Wind??

Wind at the front! Frabill 2 man flip, the front door is slanted at an angle, wind goes right over and actually holds it down. pack snow around the apron like designed and theres no cold air coming underneath.

If the wind comes from behind it gets in where the apron and sled come together and the rear vertical pole seems to detach..

In any windy situation pack the slush from a fresh drilled hole around the outside of your sled and the wind won't push you anywhere regardless of direction..

I'm in the minority. I face into the wind with my Otter Cabin. It's much harder for wind to get through the front than around the tub, plus the tub gets colder if I have my back to the wind.

The only reason not to face into the wind IMO is so that you don't get the blast of cold when you go in or out, but I'd rather take a short blast than be cold the whole time that I'm in there.

I set up wind into the door. Put some slush on the skirt put the poles in and your golden. The tent stays tight all around. Seems like sideways is the worst no one does that. The downside I have seen with setting to the back is the draft from around the tub. I have an otter lodge with inside skirt it helps but still leaves a lot to be desired.

which otter lodge? I have the full thermal and no issues with 20 plus mph winds at my back as long as there is snow.

I like the wind at my back most of the time. Sometimes, depending on the situation I have the front facing the wind. Mainly though, I like the back into the wind for takedown purposes. With the wind at the back is easier to take down because it blows the canvas into the tub and makes it easier to tuck everything in when moving.

Having the front face the wind makes it harder to take down because it turns the flip into a sail and blows the canvas out when taking down. Then I need to walk around the sled and tuck in the canvas. Just kind of a pain. I tried turning the house once but it wasn't that easy.

Just my 2 cents wink
