Picked up some TruFuel 40:1 yesterday for my strikemaster. Left the tank dry over the summer. Started it last night with this premixed fuel and it ran like a champ.

The bottle is about 90% of the reason why i bought it. Much better than trying to transport a 1/2 gal container with the stinkin federal "no spill" spouts that don't work worth a darn.

Probably 3x the price at the pump, but for the 1/2 gal or less i use each winter that's not a big deal.

Interesting but yea that is spendy! I like the no ethanol part but at $3 and change a gallon for premium and a bottle of amsoil that lasts for years the cost is a little high for my liking. Let us know how she runs over the course of the year...also your choice but I leave gas in tank with stabil over summer (run it through to "summerize" my auger) otherwise you always have some gas in lines thats gonna go bad.

I saw $35 for 6 bottles. I bet someone would sell a single bottle for ~$10. At that point, it might be more reasonable. I spend $4 in gas going to a station that has non-oxy as it is and I also dislike "spill proof" gas cans which are anything but.

I have heard good things about it. I have heard of many fire depts putting it in their equipment as they don't get used that often but they have to start the first time when needed. Longer shelf life than regular premium and honestly how much fuel does the average person go through in an auger in 1 yr? You can drill a lot of holes on a tank of auger gas. So if you use it a lot, you spend $12 a year on fuel.

I usually leave my tank with gas in it...But anything can happen when i store it in my dad's farm equipment shed over the summer...It was dry when i picked it up a few weeks ago. Oh well. It's not even a year old.

Paid $5.50 for my 36oz of trufuel. I've never been one to spend money wisely so this purchase just fits right in with the norm. smirk

If you use only 1/2 gal a season why carry the can with??? I never take extra gas along and only use 1/2 maybe 3/4 a gal a season, tank on my auger lasts several trips before needing topped off...

In the spring I dump what is left in the weed wacker and burn up. I never have troubles after changing to this fuel. Since I don't use that much, and no hassles, price doesn't bother me.

I don't like to put much into the auger at 1 time...habit i guess. I also travel most weekends during hard water and spend an entire weekend on the ice. I also don't like running out of fuel. Some days more holes than others...Just convienent to have a small container like this one.

Since I like to stimulate the economy...

I went with two options, one was a 40:1 and the other was a 50:1. Actually purchased 2 just for their containers since I can re-use them for future outtings.

Noticed the Husq was 95 octane, vs the 92 of the TruFuel therefore price difference?

I will try both fuels and report back.

I did some reading on Octane differences and going from 92 to 95 is already a minimal difference.

-Small gas engines all have low compression so premium is not required (in theory)

-Flashpoint (ie - temp it takes to ignite) might be of an issue on cold days so it may require a lot of ripping on the cord to fire up the beast..

-No ethanol is a huge bonus, you will run into less buildup (carbon, gumming up carbs etc) down the road

-Adding a little fuel stabilizer should help with ignition but we will see.
