bak2MN
When pulling skid house what do you guys use for chains on your wheeler? 2 on the back or all 4?? Second question I have a 800 Summit I will use to pull my 8x10 Skid house when the snow gets to deep for the wheeler. Does anyone have a good hitch system? Thanks for your input. dairyman
I definitely put chains on if I was pulling a skid house of that size. With glare ice you would be spinning before you got the house to move. I run chains on my 400 explorer all winter for ice fishing --back only
1lessdog
I take 1/2 sheet metal screws and screw them into every lug on my tires. All 4 of them. It really has traction and at the end of the yr I just grab them with a vice grip and pull them out. It cost me about 10.00 at Macs hard wear. I just put cardboard down in my house or on my trailer as not to dig up my floor.

bak2MN
Not sure I want to start putting screws in my tires. But the guys that run chains is there some that are better then others? Still looking for a hitch system for my 800 summit.
JeffB
The chains with the little v's welded on to them work well for me. I just put them on the rear tires. Huge difference. I think you would find what you need at Fleet Farm or L&M Fleet.

They don't damage the tire and unless you measure wrong they won't give you a flat but they give you great traction and they are quieter and also don't throw snow as bad as chains do. bak2MN
Purple what type of screw head do you use? Still not sure.
1lessdog
I use 1/2 sheet metal screws with a 5/16 head. I had a chain that got thrown off a front tire and it tore the cv boot right off and messed up the joint where it had to be replaced. I took my chains off that yr and went with sheet metal screws and I have better traction. and they turn so much easier. Now remember just the lugs
Ron Vroom
That is a great trick that I will try if I ever need some more traction. Not crazy at all!
