Rod Storage

I currently have a hard side over under shotgun case that I use for holding my thorne bros perch SH and walleye SH rods and then I keep a bobber rod in there. I also carry a ready rig bag with to hold some cheaper bobber rod combos.

I just bought a DH Al Dente and I am now looking at getting a good case to hold at least 4 rod and reel combos. They all have 500 sized spinning reels on them and range in size from 28 to 32 inches. The most important thing is that it protects my expensive rods.

I'd like feed back on the following cases. If I am forgetting something I'd be interested in knowing about any other good rod cases.

The Striker Ice Rod Transporter looks like a good quality bag. It looks like it has individual tubes for the rods which I like.

The 13 Fishing Giant Ice Bag looks nice as well, but I am concerned about how the spinning reels will fit in the bag. It is currently on sale for $57 on Fish USA.

Expedition Ice Rod Case looks like a very solid case. Do you have to fold down the reel handle with these?

Otter Outdoors Rod Case looks like a very solid case. Do you have to fold down the reel handle with these?

I have the otter box and although it is a bit bigger than other rod cases I love it!! I don't have to fold my reel handles and I can fit 4-5 combos. I have had mine for 4 years now and would get another one if needed...

What size reels do you have on your rods?

Can you fit multiple 1000 size Shimanos without collapsing the handles?

I also bought the otter case. Nice thing is there is no worries if a propane tank slides into it if you hit the brakes hard. One day a buddy was giving me dump for such a big case. so I took the case with all my rods in it jumped on it and threw it a good 20ft(nothing wrecked) and asked him what would happen if he would do that with his case. a person can easily fit 6 32 inch rods in it if stacked properly.

The problem that I see with the 13 fishing bag/box is that it seems to be set up for fly reels and for reels that are way back on the end of the rod. It might work fine, but you might also have to squish your reels in tight.

There's clearly a spinning reel in the picture!

I bought a Striker Transporter bag and absolutely love it! You can load your rods from either end and there is a lot of room for storage of tackle trays etc in the big compartment.

The reels I have are the tica's and then a mithcell and a president I think but they are all either ice fishing reels or my walleye reels for open water and I have never had to fold a handle...I use to use an arrow case but that got annoying folding down the handles and there is 10x more protection I feel with the otter case. I haven't been as daring as others but since I bought it I have never opened the case and found a tip broke any thing else for that matter where as other bags and buckets in the past had let me down.

Didn't say there wasn't. Just said that it looked like you had to squish it in.
