Ice combo storage

I was at the TB portable mod get together & sale in sept. & I was in same situation. I ended up with a striker case, cheapest best bang for your buck 4 combo holder you will find. small & compact, with decent hard sides for protection of your gear. IMO best under $50 case you can find......and I hear they are having a great Black Friday sale next weekend where EVERYTHING is on sale....

Made by Plano and bought at FF...they are a break down shotgun cases, you can stack stuff on it and no worry about damaging them.

ive used this as well for past 2 years & out of season storage but just too big for my run & gun hole hopping style, but certainly works for all the combos needed for the family in the pop up shelter

Jeremy- been plenty busy and haven't been commenting as much...deer hunting on the brain as well.

Amateur- if you are hole hopping then all you need is the rod holder on your vexilar in my oppinion. One in your hand and one for back up presentation. The hard case is great for the trip to and from the lake but once there they don't go in and out of the case. Some times it is betrer to revert back to what Jeremy originally posted and just throw them in a bucket to hole hope. I really like the Plano case for hard storage, especially those trips to LOW!

correct....I bought the striker for my personal rod travels but use bucket method for whole hopping, used to keep in bucket all the time but did not like the bouncing around effect during traveling and everything getting constantly tangled up, plus ive added a few custom pieces in the past 2 years and am protecting them more

I bought the "worlds foremost outfitter's" 8-rod rod bag a couple years ago. Pretty dang good zippers and enough storage space for all that I need and then some. It's not hard-sided which may not be what you are looking for, but I usually put my rods in last.

I modded an old fish trap almost exactly the same way, love your vertical rod storage in back.....whats the purpose of the heater if no shelter?

On nice days I don't use a shelter but I put an auger on top of the sled then I strap the pop up on top of that. If I only stake down one side of the shelter I can tip it up to take the sled out.

The shotgun case is the best I have tried, its what my dad uses. For people on a tight budget, a bucket is best. I used PVC and cut out 6" sections. I then just bent some metal I had lying around and use them as brackets to mount the pipes in a 5 gallon bucket. I think the bucket I made holds 8 rods, 5 on the outside, 3 in the middle.
