eyedr
I am new to bow hunting. I have hunted all my life and am an avid outdoorsmen but this year is my first year with a bow. Maybe its because I never really payed attention, but it seems there is more and more mishaps with shattered carbon arrows ending up in the hand. How many of you use some sort of hand protection or special glove when shooting? Forgive me if this is an ignorant question.
sticknstring
It's a pretty rare event for a carbon arrow to splinter upon release. It has happened though. You should definitely flex-check your arrows periodically, especially after hitting something solid. I wouldn't worry about wearing any special gloves or protection unless it gives you extra peace of mind.
paceman
I honestly have never heard of a carbon arrow shattering upon release. I have been shooting them for a very long time.
bigbucks
+1 on that, bouncing one off the garage wall from 2' away is hard on your hand, but not the arrow...
leechlake
I've never had a problem but obviously my buddy's neighbor above did.
DonBo
Yep, an arrow will not shatter on it's own upon release unless it was damaged first. Like Stick said, if you hit something solid, check them before shooting.
Archerysniper
A lot of what you see with arrows in the hand is arrows that bounce out of the rest or are too short for the rest.
