Why a week later??

Wondering why MN deer opener starts the second weekend of November this year as opposed to the first as it's been for so long. No complaint, just curious.

Firarms deer opener is always the 1st Saturday after the 1st Thursday in November. This is as late of an opener that we can have and last year it was the earliest we can have.

With warm weather I'm glad, let cool off tad more. Seems like light snow and or cooler weather gets them moving more.

In Zone 3, the extra week this year will also (hopefully) help get more corn out of the fields before shotgun season starts.

I was a little cranky back in August when I saw the opener was pushed back a week, mostly because I like getting up at 5:00 AM instead of 4:00 AM on opening morning due to daylight savings time ending on the first Sunday in November.

Now, even though the forecast is for a fair bit of rain in Fillmore County, it looks like the combines should be able to get more of the corn out before next Saturday morning.

Im glad too....I think it was originally scheduled for the 2nd and got changed. That was too early. I am really hoping to see the run in full swing for a change.

Not that you are wrong but according to the DNR rifle opener is the closest Saturday to Nov 6th ever year.

Same thing. It has to do with the way our deer season correlates with Thanksgiving. Since Thanksgiving is always the 4th Thursday in November you will always have a Thursday in November before Deer Opener.

The earliest day that rifle season will start will always be the 3rd of november. Never the 2nd
