eyeguy 54
After sitting in trees for 45 years tonight was another hoot. Nice 8 pointer at 9 yards, me at full draw waiting for 2 more steps and he stares me down. He won. Then a nice doe from the left at 5 yards and she caught me pulling back. She won. Man I love this!!! sticknstring
My ratios have been a little skewed too... 5 sits, 2 deer! Sounds like you had a fun night on stand! That's why we do what we do!
Scott K
I have been busted far to many times this year as well. This past weekend, I was pulling back on a nice doe, and another deer I didnt see, saw me, and then they both ran off. Sunday night, was pretty windy, and the spot I was at, I couldnt play the wind, so I sat as far forward as possible, so they wouldnt catch wind of me, until it was to late. It was funny to watch the deer walk past me, then as they got even with me, catch my scent, then freak out, turn around, run around in circles. I eventually got up and started to move to a different spot, I was standing in the open road, and a fork comes walking around the corner, he sees me, looks at me, but continues to walk directly at me. He got within 20 yards of me, as I was standing in plain viw, no cover at all, he then walked out around me, caught my scent, and took off wide open in the direction he just came from. Its funny how its ok for them to see you, as long as they dont smell you. I always felt I was safe, as long as they dont pick you up on 2 senses. Sight, smell, or hear you. bigbucks
After sitting in trees for 45 years I know that I'm taking this out of context, but the thought of it cracked me up. Things came to mind like:Has your wife been looking for you all that time?Did you have enough food & clothes for all those winters in the trees?Sorry, I'll seek therapy soon, well after I get back from my WY mule deer hunt, maybe... course then I'll be going bow hunting again...
