Who makes the best mono line?

I used Trilene XL forever but the last few years I've switched to Stren. They are both good but I like the blue tint of the stren more and more.

What do you think of the "new and improved" Version?

I bought a huge spool of the "older" stuff and haven't used the "new and improved" yet. My brother did and he wasn't thrilled.

Hey guys, I'm not asking what you use, I'm asking what you think is the best line on the market. I'm trying to do some market research here to see what people's opinion of the best line is.

If this was a reading test most people wouldn't do very good on it

Not throwing Trilene under the bus, but I've always preferred Stren. I've always liked how supple it is. It does seem to have a bit more spool memory then Berkley Trilene, but I've always found Trilene to be too stout, almost brittle.

As far as monofilament line goes, my vote has to go with Clear Blue Stren in 6 to 8 lb. test strength.

Is it the very best? I don't know. But I like it, and too me, that's all that matters.

stren hi-vis gold. all 20 rods for last 15 years. Great line and easy to see.

Tectan, a German line by Damyl....Very small diameter and excellent handling.

I tried Suffix mono once and will never use it again. Maybe a bad spool, I don't now but it was total junk.

How would I know what the best line is? Do I look like Consumer Reports? I only know what line I prefer, so that must be what I think of as best. Why would I prefer the "unbest" line? If this was a logic test, you wouldn't do so well.

The best nylon mono is Stren Original. It must be best because that is what I use, when I use nylon mono.

Stren low vis green 8 pound for walleyes. That is my favorite and has been for a while. That's as a go to normal spool the reel with one line mono. Good luck with your research.

Trilene XL. Have tried many others over the years, but go right back to Trilene.
