Wanderer
Any shee fish stories, pics or vids? I wish!!! Thanks for posting yours though - love em! Sheefish are on my bucketlist of fish to catch. I figure I'd have to take about 3 weeks off work for a trip and combine with a moose/caribou hunt. I've been to the Alaskan Arctic twice but we spent pretty much all our time chasing critters and not much fishing. Too early (September 1st - 15th) for hunting. Shoulda got there on the 15th. I heard ice fishing was pretty basic in the Arctic and always wondered just what it was like. What are you using for hooks and bait? Post some more vids if you have them. muskrat411
We are using bone hooks made out of caribou antler and muskox horn with a bent nail for the hook. Piece of Northern Pike belly skin for bait with a piece of flagging tape to add color and a chunk of rubber from the bottom of boots to hold it all on. I may do a video making the hook and doing some fishing this fall.
JP Z
That's awesome stuff there. I just read the article in Fish Alaska on Sheefishing....it is as basic as it gets for gear.

Different way of life then most of us down here even know!
muskrat411
We use regular tackle and red devil spoons in the summer and fall, The only way to go for having some reel fun.

muskrat411
Tried to go fishing today but no fish. South wind today does the wind direction matter much to fish?
Scott M
Inconnu...one fish I'll never forget. Those that know me, know I'm a huge fish geek. When I was in elementary school we had to come up with a book of the alphabet. We could choose the subject. I chose fish. Inconnu was the only common name I could find that started with the letter "I." Maybe I'll catch one some day! A family friend from Saskatchewan was the first person I ever heard call a northern pike a jack or jackfish. Pretty much every Canadian I met when talking fishing, speaks about pike as jacks. Nice videos, thanks for sharing.
muskrat411
Margo got the big one today. she also got a jack fish and a smaller inconnu that got away. I got a inconnu but it was not as big as Margo's. Not very good fishing this fall. 10kg =22lbs[img:center]http://
BoxMN
Yeah, that is cool seeing it, and I really like how you narrate the vids and show the whole areas, not just the action. Very cool seeing places that I will likely never see, but dream of going. Thanks, please keep them coming!
