They were not good in the 1st, but after that they started playing like its March again instead of like its September. Kudos to Yeo for finally scratching Heatley. Veilleux was much more effective.

What was that, the 2nd empty netter for us this year?

I'd be more apt to praise Yeo if brodz were benched than heatley. Heatley actually has chances each game. Brodz costs us games. That guy really irritates me.

Heatley has not had many offensive chances in a month of Sundays. Further, the only reason you see brodz in situations that are not desirable is because he is aggressively inept. Heatley is pure lazy inept, he is NOWHERE near where he is supposed to be when the puck goes in our net. If he is he is being overpowered and out skated, typically floundering around.

Bottom line, they both suck but saying one is worse than the other is like arguing what would be more fun to catch a 10 an 11lb walleye.

+1 Great analysis and spot on. Neither is worthy of a jersey right now. I still think Brodz has something on Yeo wink

4pts behind now. I'm actually not that afraid of the ANA match up. STL would be a nightmare. The games would be a simple formality. We would be best to just hope no one on our team got hurt.

I'd scratch Heatley over Brodziak anyday and he should have been scratched all season.

I'd say we're 50-50 to even make the playoffs right now.. So instead of hoping the Avs catch the Duck, we should hope that all the top teams that we play to finish off the season decide to rest a little before the playoffs.

imo Brodziak looks like is has become a salty veteran. After he got his contract, he rarely shows emotion and coasts. He came to us as an underperformer, got his $2.8m yr contract extension after his 20 goal season on the top line and now he is an underperformer again. Next yr is a contract year so maybe he'll pick it up again but I say trade him if someone will take him and in the mean time, sit him in the press box.

He seems like a guy that probably rents a small apt for $800 per month, eats roman noodles and socks away all his earnings knowing he maxxed out and his time is short. Have a buddy who had a 28 and 40 goal season back to back, got a $20 Million 4 year deal and never performed well after that....but he socked it away, spent conservatively, and lives like a King now...some guys blow it all and have nothing to show for it.

Must say enjoyed the whole game,

Fast, hitting, read adjusting stuff, forcheck, backcheck, good saves...

Fun all round good game.

No doubt coach Sutter kept his crew late to ride them bikes!

DOH!

grin

Fun.

My power went out at about 945 last night. Enough for me to see the Wild down 1-0. The way things had been going I figured it was done for. All the chances they had in the first period (up to the point I saw) and nothing to show for it. Soooo, I figured it was over. To my surprise I check the score this AM and Loe and behold they WON!!!!

Sounds like I missed a good game. Darnit.

Well, that is two BIG wins on the road. The way they have played at home recently they are better off on the road, as crazy as that sounds.

and welcome to the Wild Christian Folin.
This is exactly the type of guy the Wild are in desperate need of. Sounds like he could be a integral piece in the puzzle. Hopefully he is able to contribute down the stretch here to get a head start next year. By the reports I have read on this signing this is a HUGE accomplishment to get him as he was very sought after.

The vets have decided it's time to put up or shut up. So great to see this top talent take control...as I have said before they have the ability to compete with anyone and they proved that again last night against a very good team in their barn.....getting Big Mo going!

This seems to have been the Wild's MO all season, put pressure on and create scoring chances but never finish. Then the other team comes down and makes it look easy. We really played well all night long but then the King would come down and make a nice play or two that lead to a goal. Thankfully we have somehow discovered a way to score a couple quick ones in the 3rd, Detroit, Phoenix, and now LA.

Quote:
Christian Folin, top college free agent defenseman, agrees with Wild

By Brian Stubits | Hockey writerMarch 31, 2014 10:45 pm ET

The biggest fish on the college free-agent market has been been snared. Christian Folin is the newest member of the Minnesota Wild.

The UMass-Lowell sophomore defenseman was the prize of this year's FA crop from the college ranks and when Lowell was knocked out of the NCAA tournament this past weekend, the sweepstakes to try and sign him began. With all offers limited on entry-level deals it became a matter of where Folin thought the best fit would be.

That fit was in Minnesota.

A big-bodied defenseman, Folin is the quality of free agent that can step right in to the NHL like Danny DeKeyser in Detroit last season, though expectations should be kept in check at the start. Still, Minnesota could use a quality body on defense to further fortify their blue line and Folin can do that for now with great potential moving forward.

Oh yeah, he has a pretty hard shot too.

From all indications, the decision for Folin came down to Minnesota and the Flyers who, as we know, are always on the hunt for impact defensemen.

This season for UMass-Lowell, the 6'3 defenseman had six goals and 14 assists in 41 games.

Our Chris Peters wrote about Folin last week and the type of impact that he will bring to the NHL. Enjoy, Wild fans.
