Youth Bow?

So, my son is going to be four soon. He sees me shooting and wants to know when its going to be his turn. My question is, at what point have others got their kids a bow and what did you end up buying for their first bow? Im just excited he has the interest to be out there with me.

Thanks

My son got his first bow, Fred Bear odyssey, when he was ten. He was able handle the 40lb draw weight and he quickly outgrew that bow, even though it is adjustable in draw length. I would say when your son is able to handle the bow safely with supervision. The more slinging of arrows he does early the better a get him something that is decent so he doesn't loose interest.

At his young age, I'd look at the Mathews Genisis.

I'm 100% with DonBon on this one. I loooked and looked for my son and I ended up getting him a Diamond Nuclear Ice. I've been happy with it, but I wish I'd have gone with a Genesis instead. I'm not a Mathews guy (they don't fit me well), but for kids the Genesis is tough to beat.

The Mathews Genisis is way to long for a little guy, its like 36 inches !! I bot my son a Diamond Nuclear Ice . It fit him ok for a 4 years old, but he is 5 and a half now and can shoot really good now ! well when he wants too! lol He even uses a single pin slider sight and can hit out to about 18 yards with it .
