when did line go sky high?

holy cow went to the blue box store today. a roll of 8# trilene was $7.50 for 330 yards. bought some this spring it was about 5 bucks a roll not complaining but what gives is it made out of oil

Actually, yes. Mono is made out of extruded nylon, which is a plastic and a byproduct of crude oil.

The early season line is sometimes holdover line from the previous year. Also, stores drop prices on some seasonal base items to bring in traffic. Next year pick up and extra spool or two in the spring.

Remember: when you stock up on mono be sure to store it in a cool dry place away from light.

And the price of line went up same time as a bottle of Makers Mark. Something had to change.

So I found the wife a part time job.

If I remember correctly, I think I've been paying between $6.50 and $7.50 for a 300+ yd spool of Stren Mono for several years now.

I haven't noticed a big change in line prices, but I can't say it's something I watch very closely, or buy very often for that matter.
