I live for the Ice Fishing. My fishing buddy of 40-years and I are tooling up for our January trip to Winnie & Red Lake. This year, we are getting back to the Hi-Tech Basics. Instead of renting Sleepers & houses that we started doing 10-12 years ago; we are switching back to portables. I bought a Clam 5600 & a Clam 6800 with the Trap-Link Doors. Today, my buddy is picking up a 6800. The Trap-Link Adapters are almost impossible to find. I managed to find two, a 8067 & a 8066. The 8066 doesn't fit. But yesterday, I took the 8067 to a custom canvas shop. They told me No Prob. They showed me the Fish House Canvas Material they had on a spool. Too Cool. So, we'll have 3-4 Portables that can work independently, scouting for the fish. And at late night, we can connect up for using as sleepers for the 3 of us going.

We're going through the gear, checking to make sure is working, heaters, lights and other items. I even bought a new 4x4 Pick Up Truck & Topper for the trip. We have 2 for hauling gear onto the ice & for lake hopping.

I am going through the Winnie and Red Lake Maps with coordinates I've marked off over the years.

Maybe someone could help along the fishing spot ideas. Every Ice Fishing Pilgrimage, we try to do something 'Out of the Box'. This next trip slated for Jan 4th, we are going to hunt down Crappies. At the moment, we have nailed down to 2 lakes, Cut Foot Sioux of Bowfin.

Any suggestions or maybe areas one these two lakes to start looking? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

23 weeks and counting! Come on Ice!!!

Love seeing other people that are as enthusiast about ice fishing a me! It makes me feel a bit more normal that I'm not the only one with obsessive compulsive ice fishing disorder!

Maybe the open water people are fishing the open water and the iceheads are putting around on their 'puters.

That's probably a lot to do with it. I know I post from around this time a year until ice fishing starts mainly because I can't ice fish but only talk about it. Once the lakes freeze up I'm out fishing and my posting and reading drops big time.

I agree let there be ice. I am not a hot weather person. I sweat thinking about sweating. I am sick of the heat and ready for some ice. Looking at the forecast for this coming weekend and i seen some mid 40's for the lows. It just gets me to excited about winter and ice fishing. I had all my gear out and working on it the last couple of nights and my wife states that i need professional help. I say bring on the cold and let it stay
