Last I heard they are finishing up on the app and the units should start to hopefully ship the end of November. They might have a display one but they won't have any to buy at the Blaine show but there might be at the St Paul show. I will be getting one once they are out.

ah..found it. This looks to be a great product, as long as it functions as well as the idea is.

Imagine being able to use a tablet, ram mounted to the house, that has about 5-8 years of better technology in it, and doing it for 1/4 the price.

No more huddling around a tiny, low quality screen to see what is showing on the camera. I think i likey likey. Or for the sonar unit...no more asking the other guy "whats showing on HIS flasher. simply flip back and forth to see it..or look up at the wall to see what each flasher in each hole is showing....WOW, there are alot of options here. IOS allows for multiple apps to run at the same time.... gets a guy wondering the possibilities.

I hope they did this right. I really do.

Anyone want to buy a few flashers? lol

I read elsewhere that shipments have been backordered to late Dec. Not sure if that is true or not.

Either way, I'd really like to try one out. I'm really curious to see how the picture looks on the phone/tablet.

So I take it you dont put the phone down the hole right???

smirk

I am curious to see where this goes, and I wonder how many people end up dumping their phone or tablet in the drink and wind up deciding having the old camera system was better.

I wonder if Verizon's insurance covers water damage?

These do look to be pretty awesome, however I have some concern with lag between the camera and the unit that it's transmitting to. I really wish I could see one in action before I buy one but I think I'm just going to read a lot of reviews. Certain things can interfere with the wifi signal causing poor pictures or a lag from the camera to the unit. I hope that they have it right where you can try different wifi frequencies to get the best quality!

I would be very suprised if you dont see a huge set up at the ice show next weekend. That will be the talk of the show, if they do. You can pick up a semi good tablet w/wifi for around $50-75 bucks this weekend at a bunch of retailers. I wouldnt probably be using a $400-$500 ipad, but i can see having fish camera specific tablets in the shack.

As far as lag, i doubt there would be an issue. there is probably more lag on the aqua view cameras than on your wifi connection. Both are milli seconds. Remember this isnt running over the signal your phone uses for servie, its simply the blue tooth/wifi connection. I would think you would have to be pretty darn deep with the camera to start to get any type of low signal/lag.

it does seem a bit "too good to be true"... but then again, the camera/phone/tablet market is WAY ahead of the fish camera tech world, so why wouldnt it work great? I use wi-fi connections all the time with clear/no issue service. Even mid range phones/tablets now a days have more operating power than computers just several years ago did.

Also, there are TV's that have built in Wi-Fi now. So i would imagine that a 24-32" Wi-fi TV will find its way into many perm houses.

Are the days of everyone huddling around a small, poor quality 4-6" screen, with a sun/light shield, GONE? oh i hope so.

Really be careful on this one guys. I heard that the technology vex is using was passed on first by another player in the industry because of poor wifi reliability, bad construction and super slow lag time in the 2 or 3 second range. I'm going to wait on these until everyone's is out and we can compare. Might be late this season or early next but so be it.

Also unless you have a tablet or external power source for your phone, watching streaming video on your phones will kill your battery very quickly. Not many guys seem to be thinking about battery draw on video use.

The FishPhone has arrived!

Finally after a long awaited launch, the FishPhone WiFi underwater camera system has arrived and the Vexilar team is doing final assembly and inspection. You should expect to see the FishPhone to start arriving in your favorite retailers in two weeks! The Android and iOS apps that are used to receive the WiFi signal from the FishPhone will be launched by the end of the week. First will be Android and then iOS by Mid-December.

The FishPhone is the world’s first WiFi underwater camera system that relies on a Free downloadable app to use. There are repeater systems on the market that require a complete underwater camera and you simply have a WiFi signal repeater. FishPhone sends a color/black and white video signal out to 100 feet to your smart device. With the internal 12 volt battery, your FishPhone will run for over six hours on a single charge. You can store still images and even movie footage directly on your smart device and send it off to your friends!

A New Era in underwater Camera technology will be arriving soon to a retailer near you! Retailer price $189.95
