it seems you have to hit about 20 before you find something good, all i ever find is 20 year old rods that are in horrible shape they want way to much money for or old junky jigs that are rusted.

Yep, I stopped at one on Thursday afternoon and picked up a couple old level wind reels for the spear shack, and 4 - 100 year anniversary spoons from Hormel. I also scored on some old Dan Gapen ugly bugs and ugly grubs.

I been looking for a bulk amount of assorted jigs and I'm keeping my eyes open for a used flasher at garage sales.I fish almost every day on the river and I loose lots of jigs from granite and such.I found an aqua view a month ago at a yard sale for only 20 bucks.Once in awhile I score big at garage sales

they can be a little hit or miss. And most of the time people are way to proud of thier stuff. Then there are those magic sales, you know the ones where he ran off to vegas with his secretary and she is selling all his stuff before he gets back...

I scored an old green box lorance for the colection a couple weekends ago. Will likely never use it on the water, but it looks good with the vintage ice fishing display.

I do prefer "vintage" junk over new. fishing, hunting, traping, spearing, and rock hounding gets my attention more than the rest of the junk out there. But in the end who can resist opening a tackle box listed with a $2 tag on it to see if there is anything good in it?

I don't normally shop the yard sales, but look at the many localized online auction sites on a regular basis. The best buys I've made so far were a two year old Otter Lodge for $200 and a 10 year old 8 inch LazerMag for $32.00.

As a funny yard sale antidote.... Several years ago on a late August day one of my fishing buddies came home from work to find his wife had put his ice fishing tent in a yard sale she was having. Needless to say he was a bit upset with her and asked "what the he)) are you doing" She replied "Well you weren't using it, its been sitting in the garage for the last six months." Incidentally they ended up getting a divorce last year.
