shiltsy
2012 was a rough year for my rod collection. Lots of broken tips, shattered guides, etc. I guess that means it was a good year of hard fishing... and also that I need to start buying better rods.Anyway, as I look at replacing a bunch of rods, it sure feels like I have way too many spinning combo's. I fish weightless (or light weight) wacky rigged worms a LOT and spinning gear is perfect for that. It's also great for casting under docks and drop shotting. What other presentations do you use your spinning gear for?
MuskieFever
I like using a spinning rod for smaller crankbaits and jerkbaits. I like the feel of a spinning rod for erratic twitches. I like using light hair jigs as well on spinning rods.

shiltsy
Thanks guys... starting to remind me why I had so many spinning combos in the first place! Man, am I ready to feel the "tap" and watch my line going sideways.
apegs
Love spinning rods. Use them for texas rigged worms, even used a spook on them sonetines. Always have a grub worm on a jighead paired with a spinning rod. Bought another spinning rod for jerkbaits.

beeflover
You can fish for anything with spinning tackle, like Doug Stange on TV seems to fish more spinning tackle than anything, for catfish, muskie, big stripers etcAs far as efficiency on the water, less hassle etc it makes more sense to me to find ways to use baitcasters instead of spinning tackle even for finesse because of less line twist hassles, loops etc. Also, you go through much less line on the baitcaster. Instead of changing line on your spinning reel every week you can get by with only a couple times a year. If you like braid you can use that line several years. BESIDES, REAL BASS MEN THINK SPINNING GEAR IS FOR GIRLS ONLY USE A FLIPPING STICK AND A WINCH.
gritsnham
Deitz do you only dropshot on a baitcaster?I would have to second cecils list...still always more comfortable with spinning unless im throwing heavy stuff it seems just what I always fished with growing up... Deitz Dittrich
grits- maybe not "only".. but yeah, last year I used my spinning dropshot rods only a hand full of times I would think.
blakjack23
Only one spinning setup in my boat and I use it for jig worms. Everything else I use baitcasters for...including skipping I might even convert my jig worm setup to a baitcaster...
