Missed Turkey

Two years ago I missed a bird that came in with 3 other toms. An hour later I killed a really nice 25 lb bird and this was late in the year when they'd already had some pressure. I don't think gun shots bother them nearly as much as consistently detecting human presence.

Good luck!

They'll be back. I had 2 toms come in 2 years ago and missed. The next day I shot one of them 60 yards from where I missed the day before. To them, the loud blast of a shotgun isn't a blast from a gun, its just a really loud bang noise.

I had a buddy who missed his first shot a couple years back. We ended up on the same field the next morning less than 50 yards from where he missed the day before.

I knew it was the same bird from the day before; when he spread out his fan and started to strut, he was missing half of his tail feathers. He looked like the Michael Spinks of gobblers with every other tail feather missing. grin

It did have double beard, though, to make up for the missing tail feathers.
