AZ Javelina Hunt

Here is my Javelina I got in AZ the end of Feb. Very fun hunt and awesome way to scratch the big game itch in the winter(although they are not very big). We all 3 filled our tags that day.

You hear how bad it tastes from alot of people down there. But we took care of them pretty quick and got them cooled off. Took the backstraps and marinated in italian dressing overnight and they tasted great! A little dry but no off taste what so ever. The rest we ground and made chorizo which was also good

The animal itself does have a pretty unique smell as there is a scent gland on its back toward the rump.

That's awesome! I bowhunted them a couple times in AZ, shot AT a few but never did score. Loads of fun though, hope to do it again some day.

were was you hunting at? we used to hunt down by red rock,try make green chilie out of some really good that way,

I was hunting near Wikieup and have heard making green chilie is good.
