Most Dominant Athlete....

Marciano kinda' gets thrown under the rug when people start talking about boxing greats. Yeah, he was undefeated, but like Tyson, he didn't fight the greatest of fighters either. His win over Joe Louis doesn't say much...Louis was about 10 years past his prime! In many of Marciano's fights, he was well behind on points (Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles, just to name a couple) and had to win by late KO. So, even though he won, he was far from dominant.

From just a boxing sense, fighters like Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Henry Armstrong could be thrown in the dominant athlete list.

I thought this was about being dominate, not the best Not his fault no one was close to his equal one on one. 49 and 0 - 43 KO's. If that is not being a dominate person in a sport---- I would then have to say Jimmie Johnson and Richard Petty would have to be considered.

well yeah nobody could stop a guy that was over a half foot taller than most of the players he was defended by or even that was on the other team. But he couldn't dominate his main opponent...Bill Russell and the Boston Celtics!! Wilt did have pretty good averages against Russel in their 142 meetings though..28.7pts per game and 28.7 rebounds per game but Bill won the games and the titles!
