bmc
Money is kinda' tight right now, especially if I wanna go to S. Dakota again in Dec. for a week of pheasant hunting. A buddy and I are going to build our own layout blinds for this fall. Anyone ever try this or know where a guy could get plans for a homemade layout blind. Hopefully it would be light enough to be portable. If we come up with something on our own, I'll be sure to post.Oh yeah, TONS of wild rice around the Deer River area. We were out scouting a few duck and early goose spots and man o' man, I can't wait for season to begin!!!bmc
huntnfish
I am in the process of building one right now. I would draw you some plans if I can find the time. I built the frame out of 1/2" PVC water pipe. i used the thicker wall stuff(600psi) and it is still very light. I haven't put the material on the outside yet. For the floor I picked up a camo tarp that I am going to fasten to the bottom to keep it dry. I think that I probably have between 30 and 40 dollars into it at this point. I still have to get some material to cover the outside which will be about 20 more dollars. I designed it after the one's that you see in the outdoor catalogs, but it won't be as fancy. I will try to find some time to draw up some plans and will let you know when I do.

dkhntr
A prob myzee13 pointed to me already is the doors are not shown on the plans to connect them to the frame. I have not made one yet, my boat blind and repainting dekes and getting my motor running again as taken most of the summer (just ran to Cabalas again today for more paint) I wish I had made one, I would have added in the plans how to attach. The ONLY suggestion I can offer, is I blieve these plans are just like an Eliminator blind. If you have a sport shop by you that has one on display, take a peek, You are making the same thing $100's cheaper!------------------Lawn sprinklers save your grass...Fire sprinklers save your A$$

can it be luck?
My friend made some layout boards similar to what you have with Cabelas flip ups, minus the decoy shell. The boards would be great for the layout blind. I'm not sure how this is going to fly with Rick but there is a picture of me laying on one in site chumpchangewires, The Outdoor Section, Goose hunters prepared but not ready. The article touches briefly on the fabrication of the boards. I could probably draw up some prints. If you delete due to advertising, I understand completely.
