mrklean
Was out today was sitting in about 10 feet very clear water then i start to see this murky cloud coming in it cloud up the water where i can hardly see bottom then get worse where i can barely see my decoys 2 feet down, after awhile of that i left, but left my house out there. Any idea on what that was, im going back in the am hopefully it cleared back up the lake is usually very clear.
Mike89
I have seen that and also when they came in and out of the hole too! I don't know if it's a bloom or what.
LunkerCity
We sometimes see algae blooms on Pokegama in Grand Rapids. It looks almost reddish and it would go in and out. Seemed like jigging the decoy would break it up a little...
Archerysniper
Carp can do that too when they move in.
Gordie
Carp can do that too when they move in. Yep happened to me last week but it took about an hour to cloud up but fish were still around, not sure is it was carp but they do mess things up in a hurry
scott b
Carp are very docile in the winter. Doubt that theory.
MJ1657
Carp are very docile in the winter. Doubt that theory. I've seen carp very active in the winter.
pike79
Speared a lake last year that was so clear you could have a neddle 15 ft. down then for about 15 min. it would cloud up. Very crazy.
merkman
Current or springs can cause this too.I was on a lake once on late ice; setup next to a spring...The cloudy water would go in and out of the hole...Very good fishing on that transition. Be very careful of ice thickness around springs though... I only do this very late in the season and I am very cautious to verify ice thickness. . mrklean
There are a bunch of springs in this lake that might be it
Archerysniper
Carp are very docile in the winter. Doubt that theory. Well they were not jumping out of my spear hole and attacking my face like a rabid dog,so I guess they were docile. A school of carp can wreak havoc in the shallow water bays.
