Tying off spear

I know this sounds dumb but I'm just starting out and I was wondering what I would tie the rope on my spear off too if I'm in a portable

I tie mine to my chair

I tie off by putting a caribeaner on one of the poles of my cabelas pop up.

Thats only because if you speared a big pike and it was tied to your leg it would pull you in

I have tied mine to mine to my chair and to my leg.

My portable that has a wood floor has a clip screwed to it that I clip the rope to.

I always tie mine to my right wrist. Then I have my rope laying over my right leg so that it doesn't get tangled up when I throw.

typically how long of a rope do you use

Mines about 15 foot, but it depends on how deep you wanna spear and how much extra you want laying in the house

Sixteen to twenty feet and keep it looped in my left hand. Six foot spear and ten to fifteen feet deep.

I loop mine around my boot. Also about the length, I think there is a law that it can be no longer than 20'. Not that you'd ever need it that long!!
