Fish house identification options

I have a new wheel house for the upcoming season and need to put identification on it per MNDNR rules. I think it's name and address or dnr number. I there a downside to putting your name on it? I don't leave mine unattended very much so not too worried about people messing with it.

You can also put your MN Drivers License number, believe that is the same as your MN DNR number, just make sure your numbers/letters are the required height per to regs. I printed mine on white vinyl sticky back with black text and put it on my range exhaust vent on the outside of the house(just right of the door). It's been on there for three years now. full-18666-27113-dsc00517_compressed.jpg

Effie07 is right, you can use your DL number or your DNR number. I just put 2" numbers on the side of my wheelhouse using my DNR number. From the DNR Fishing Regs:

Shelters (fish houses and dark houses)

The following regulations apply to all shelters used on all Minnesota

waters, unless otherwise noted elsewhere in this booklet.

• All shelters placed on the ice of Minnesota waters must have either the

(1) complete name and address, (2) driver’s license number, or (3) the

nine-digit Minnesota DNR number on the license of the owner plainly

and legibly displayed on the outside in letters, and figures at least

2 inches in height.

I have Drivers Lic. # next to the door.

Personnally I would not use my Name & Address- If you and the family are out enjoying an afternoon / evening of fishing it could give some "Low Lifes" info that no one is home.

Hope you enjoy the wheeler-good luck fishing

Do we need it on portables too? I had it on one, but have not put it on my current one. It is going on my 4th season.

portables do need it too. portables and perms (wheel houses and skid houses and spearing shacks)how ever don't need to be licensed(unless you decide to leave it on the ice unattended over night then you would need it licensed.)

And for the wheel houses don't forget about the trailer license you need them. Under 3000 lbs a sticker on the pole, over 3000 lbs a plate and it must have breaks. A CO can give you a ticket for not having it on the house.
