The Countdown Is On!!

Recommended Posts

Let's pump it up around here!!! My annual case of Buck Fever has set in. Can't wait for the best outdoors tradition in MN this weekend. I packed up all my stuff last night and I'm ready to depart for the woods Thursday afternoon and I'll come back Monday night. Anyone else leaving early? How long do you stay at deer camp? I'd love to make a week out of it one of these years.

leaving Thursday to do some bowhunting and preparing and coming home Monday also.

I've found in the past that staying the whole week isn't for me. The best is coming home for a few days and then going back up maybe Thursday morning. By coming home you get excited again and it's like opening day all over again for the drive up there. I'm not hacking on staying the whole time but by breaking it up it makes it more fun for me and I also don't have such a pile of work on my platter come Monday morning after the season is done.

I'm PUMPED!! Leaving on Friday morning early to do some last minute scouting and set up camp. I'll be hunting all week and coming home the following Friday, or Saturday morning. I absolutely love hunting for a week straight. It gives me a chance to try multiple spots and attempt to figure out exactly what the deer are doing. If both my dad and I have our bucks we may come home a little earlier than planned. Then I have a crazy week at work and I'll be headed to Montana for another week of deer hunting!! This should be a great November!

NoWiser - Did you shoot the one in your avatar in MN or MT? Nice buck!

Thanks toughguy,

That is a buck I shot two years ago in northern MN, public land. I have some more dandies on camera this year including one the same size and another even bigger!!

I've never been to Montana before, and don't know that I've ever even seen a mule deer before, so I'm super pumped to head over there after our season!

Leaving in 2 hours for the 2 hour drive to the deer shack. We get up there on Thursday to get the camp setup for the boys from the cities that have to work today and come up tomorrow. I'll just say the countdown has ended for me. Everyone be safe this year, and good luck in filling the freezer!
