Packers vs Jaguars

SkunkedAgain

Let's hope that the Jacksonville losing streak to NFC North teams continues this week. They've lost to the Vikings and Bears and now play GB followed by Detroit. There aren't a lot of things going right for Jacksonville these days. They beat the Colts in a close one but have been blown out in three of their five losses. The other two losses (Vikings & Raiders) were overtime games. They clearly are being outplayed in most areas.

Green Bay seems to have regained some form. The defensive line and linebackers are soaking up injuries just fine, and the young DBs are really starting to shine. Our O-line is still ugly. We can't run block and our pass-blocking average at best. If it weren't for Rodgers and a dynamite receiving corps, we would be in trouble.

I see this as a win but it should be viewed as a chance to improve prior to the Arizona game.

Thoughts?

If Green Bay loses this game they should just pack it in for the rest of the season. MJD and Gabbert went down with injuries yesterday, without them Jacksonville is about as dangerous as a junior varsity high school team.

I will actually be at the game for my first ever trip to Lambeau field. I am in no way a Packer fan but a friend has 4 free tickets so I figure I'll go along for the ride. It will give me a chance to boo them in person instead of through the TV.

nofishfisherman - I will actually be at the game also. Can't wait!

I see the Pack on top by atleast 21. They have turned a corner somewhere and have been playing well now.

Ya green bay unfortunatally will prolly run the table in our division. God knows the bears cant keep it up.

I have gone to plenty of games in Cheese Stadium, dressed in Purple gear, and most everyone is polite, and friendly. You get a few drunks after the game, saying stuff, but as long as you arent provking them, they are just loud mouth drunks.

In fact, I have met some pretty good people over there, and every year when I go there, I go and hang out with them before the games. I even keep in contact with them throughout the year as well.

Chicago is a different story, I went to a Thursday night game there a few years ago, I was scared leaving the stadium.

Sorry that we aren't prompt enough for you Dangler.

Woodson did break his collarbone, which from what I read is the other side than what he broke in the 2010 SuperBowl. I find it odd for a guy to crack both sides in separate incidents. Wood isn't a hard hitter either. Most of his tackles he kind of jumps on receivers or RBs or drags them down. On the flip side, he wears youth-sized shoulder pads so I guess it makes some sense.

Overall I don't think that this will hurt GB a ton right now. I've heard he's out 4-6 weeks and that it's not as bad as the Super Bowl injury. The young CBs such as Hayward and House are already playing a lot and doing well. The trick will be at saftey, but MD Jennings is picking things up. While I'm sure that this will cause some problems I'm not too worried since it's mid-season. The lemons-to-lemonade view is that Woodson will be rested and fresh for the end of the season, which helps a 36 year old man have the stamina for a playoff run.

I'm not worried either. Lets face it, Cwood has lost a step the past year or more, but his leadership is what they will miss the most. The guy has always been a leader for us since he came to GB. He has an act for being in the right spot to get those ints, but also has an act of getting a few PI penalties. I would much rather see him out there, but the younger guys have been doing well.

Dangler, fighting for a playoff spot isnt even a question right now. The pack is on a role, and with their scheduale right now I see them finishing 11-5. This season reminds me of the superbowl run.

My My, I didnt realize my question would strike a nerve. I guess now that the bobbers going down I might as well set the hook!

So as testy as you seem to be, Cwood must be what I figured him to be, the heart and the chief of the secondary, maybe the whole defense. So, instead of the Cheddarnuggets being the 18th easiest pass defense, they might be in the 25th area? A Rodg will have to get up to 55 passes per game to keep up with that!

nofishfisherman - what did you think of Lambeau? Pretty sloppy game for the Packers. Good thing for us was the two offensive scores were right in our laps. We were in section 110 row 1! Never been down that close before, was a pretty fun experience. Weather was great too. Game was ugly, but got the win smile

Lambeau was a cool experience although I was up in the indoor club level and that really lacked any sort of atmosphere. It was nice and comfortable but pretty much void of any sort of excitment and there was really nothing specail about it at all. The crowd also didn't seem to care one way or the other about the game, some mild cheering and clapping when the Pack scored but that was about it. Certainly none of the rabid packer fan attitude I was hoping to experience.

Also where we were we had the sun right in our face later in the game so you could hardly see through the glass. All I could see in the 4th quarter was our reflections in the glass. Not real well designed in my opinion. You'd think they'd have used something to help cut down on the glare so you could actually see the game. Face value on my ticket was $222, thats A LOT of money to pay to watch 1/2 - 3/4 of the game.

We did go up to the roof top bar just below the jumbotron for the national anthem and the fly over, that was pretty cool. Felt like we could reach up and grab the tail of the jets as they flew over head. Never had my internal organs vibrate like that before. Other than the fly over the roof top bar is only good if you are right on the railing. If you aren't one of the first few people up there then you can't even see the field. I was maybe 3-4 feet back from the railing and I couldn't even see the top of the field goal posts on the opposite endzone.

As far as the game itself it was UGLY on both sides. Frankly the Pack got lucky to get the win. Without that blocked punt I think the Pack would have lost. This certainly is not the same Packers team as we've seen in the last 2 years. Not much to hang your hat on when you can barely out play one of the worst teams in the league. Now I'm not a Packer fan at all so I was hoping to see the Jaguars pull it out, if for no other reason than to see if the crowd in the club level would show some emotion.

Ya, the game lacked the big plays of the norm, which shut the crowd down instantly. All the jags did was sit back in a cover 2 taking anything in the middle and downfield away from the passing game. And since we couldn't run the ball, they had no reason to get out of it. They missed Jordy Nelson a lot and they need to get some type of running game going.

I'm not overly concerned since playing down to the level of a lesser team is not a new concept in the NFL. We'll see what happens against Arizona but mostly I'll keep my radar tuned on what they do coming out of the bye week. They've got a big second half schedule to gear up for

I've been fortunate enough to attend five games at Lambeau Field and it's an awesome place. Can't vouch for yesterday but when I've been there you share high five's with complete strangers after big plays, etc. And I'll take ugly wins over ugly losses like last Thursday night any day.
