merkman
Ever since getting a smartphone, I never use my old digital camera; so I pulled it out of storage and got it ready for the upcoming spearing season. I though I might as well repurpose it as a video recorder, rather than leaving it sit. So I upgraded the memory stick to a 32GB version, added an external power adapter and now I can record over 3 1/2 hours of video without having to worry about batteries. That just got me thinking.. what are others using for video recording in their spear shacks?
jasonmichalski
I picked up a HD action cam for this season and work just got me a smart phone with unlimited data so I may use it and I have a digital video recorder but I think the wife wouldn't like that one very much. Can't wait for the ice to show up should be a good year.

BOUNCED
now I can record over 3 1/2 hours of video without having to worry about batteries. I'll have to take you out spearing so you don't have to wait that long to see a fish
merkman
The camera mount is a cheap short tripod with the legs ripped off and holes drilled in the leg mounts so I could screw it to the wall with sheet rock screws. Camera mounted in shack.... Notice the strap is hooked into the clip on the ceiling (per BNS's advice) Also I am running the camera off external power. (I have a deep cycle battery with an inverter in my spear shack) .

MJ1657
I've got that part figured out. There's something going on with my laptop that won't let me resize the pictures.
Brad B
I've got that part figured out. There's something going on with my laptop that won't let me resize the pictures. try opening the pics in a photo editer or even open in paint and use the resize feature there. A couple things to consider...Keep it out of the way of your spear, or any splashing from a pike. The other thing to think of is how high does it need to be so you can see the entire hole on the screen? larger hole means it will be higher, and I would think the camera lens has something to do with this too....Basically test it out and see where the lowest point would be. Then adjust it as you see fit to make sure your spear don't hit it.I have mine mounted as high as possible then I zoom in to get the edges of the hole on the right and left side of the shot.. Mcfin
I saw a camera in the middle of a pair of glasses at Fleet Farm. I was wondering if anyone has used one and how good the video's turn out. I would think this would be ideal for spearing video's.

Boar here on the forums used them to film his daughters bear hunt and the video turned out really good.
LunkerCity
I recently bought a Swann Bullet cam. Haven't really tried in the darkhouse yet since I've been spearing out of my portable. I'm getting my perm. out this morning so hopefully I'll have some vid to post coming up. I thought I had an hour of awesome crappie fishing recorded and realized when I got home that I F'd it up somehow. I guess if its on my head I need a mirror to see if the light is on!!!! LunkerCity
Well I definitely would not recommend the Swann Bullet cam for in a darkhouse. It does take nice video outdoors, but junk video in the house. I took video last year with my droid phone and it was great, now its broken. I'll have to try my digi camera...
