Tipupdown
Hey guys curious to see whats out there, buddy of mine bought and 8x24' ice castle (not RV edition) this summer and is determined that it can be pulled out with a 4-wheeler. THey say it weighs 5200lbs what kind of dolly system/weight displacement do others have for pulling the big house out?? Pictures/info greatly appreciated since were going to get started making something real SOON!!Thanks!
BartmanMN
It's forsale on popular sight now. Not mine
Hawg
I see them pulled all the time with 4 wheelers. The key is a four wheeler with a solid back axle works the best. The independant suspension rear ends squat badly if the tounge is heavy. We had a hard time with my 6 x 8 with a Razr and a little snow. Either way, chains are a must for traction a slick ice. chad austin
My house is #4200 and we pull it with a Kawasaki 650. Solid rear axle.
Eric Wettschreck
I pull my house all the time with my 400 big bear. Solid rear axle. I don't have tire chains but I need to get some.
peerchking
I pull my 8x16 with mt 02 polaris magnum solid ax, my buddy has a 8x18 ICthat I would have to pull out for him couse his A.C. 650 would just bottom out. till we made solid blocks to support the wieght. so basicly we made his a solid ax just for ice fishing. I would think that with a dolly system that you are showing even with chains you would not get the traction to pull it.the toung wieght gets you the traction. mmartin
you can by a kit for like $60 to lock the suspension. It is made by Kolpin.
Tipupdown
think with it weighing that much with a locked suspension thats all you need?!
Eric Wettschreck
And a set of tire chains.Like I said earlier, I don't have them but I need to get a set. World of difference with chains on.
Dave S
2 things here are a must IMO. The tow dolly that Bartman posted and tire chains. The tongue weight of a 5200lb house will be too much for an atv even with a suspension lock. ATVs are usually designed for a tongue weight of only 35lbs. SXS ATvs might be a little more. I'd imagine that fish house is closer to 300lbs.
dougger222
I would have my doubts with the dolly set up without chains. You need some weight on the rear axle for traction.I used to pull my very tounge heavy 12ft house with my IRS 700 Polaris and although it really squatted it down it would pull it. Used to move the house weekly for a couple Winters without chains. Pulled it a few times on pure ice and the main issue was stopping not starting out. BartmanMN
Get an extra set of takeoffs and stud them. It is way better than chains will ever be!
eyehunter78
I have pulled all my house with a polaris sportsman 500 with chains. I've pulled 6.5x16, 6.5x14,and 8x16. Wheeler squated but always pulled them fairly easy unless alot of snow. Haveing one of the dollys would take lots of strees of the wheeler.
