Refrigerator clunks?

We have a refrigerator that makes a clunking sound when the compressor stops. Kind of like a cupboard door shutting a little hard. Not sure how old, it was here when we got the place, maybe 15-20 years old? Almond colored, when was that in style? Think it's about to quit?

Most likely (98%) it's just the rubber mounts on the compressor.... won't hurt anything.

if it's driving you crazy, use your imagination to mickey mouse quiet them.

If it's almond colored it's older than you are. Give some thought to an upgrade and Excel will give you $35 for that beast.

If it bothers you, you could probably get some sort of replacement rubber feet for the compressor, or kluge something up.

You have either a broken or weak spring inside of the compressor and the only fix is replacing the compressor. It will not effect the operation of the refer just annoying and could last yrs with the noise.

+1 I was going to say broken spring maybe. My giant International Harvester has a broken spring on the compressor. It's been like that for at least four years and will likely continue like that for years to come. No need to fix
