tjbassmaster
I am thinking of getting into spearing this winter. Wondering if anyone has any experience spearing out of a flip over house or something like a clam 5600? I have never speared before so I have no idea if those would be big enough? Also whether or not they would let in to much light? Any info or tips would be appreciated!
Gordie
It has been done alot and Archerysniper has speared quite a few out of his so I know he will chime in. Welcome to the new addiction of spearing your gonna have a blast.
Archerysniper
Like Gordie Said all I use is my Frabill 2 man flip over and it works great. I don't need much room so I cut a big hole and put some rubberized matting around the hole too keep the light from coming through the ice and help from slipping. What color is the fabric on your house?
shortfatguy
I have used flip over, hub and the wood floor type portables for spearing without a problem. If a lot of light comes through the roof fabric it might help to bring an old blanket or sleeping bag to lay over the top of the house. efgh
The only draw back of spearing out of a portable is,If you find a good place to spear on and are seeing a lot of fish someone will probley be on your hole when you come back. It happens a lot.
MJ1657
Like the other guys said portables work just fine. Would say try it with what you have and then you can decide what you would like different and upgrade from there.

Neiko
I have a Clam X2 and lined the ceiling and back wall with left over Landscaping fabric/plastic. I cut out around the velcro so it stays in place. Perfect trying remote and new lakes. Don't want to fall asleep though and end up doing a Greg Lugainer. (sp?) bassNspear
TJ,i have been spearing out of a portable my whole life and love it. That 5600 clam will work perfect for it, just cut a big hole out of the floor and you will be good to go. Size of that house is perfect.BNS
Spike76
I've got a portable that I haven't used in years. Mostly because of the wind. Most of my spearing is out of a 4x6 permanent, and it is 10 times better then the portable.
Spike76
Forgot to mention, spearing out of a portable is 100 times better than no spearing. I'm just old and set in my ways. Good luck.
