schmoe147
I'm in the market for a new shotgun for upland birds. I currently shoot a benelli nova. I've got my eyes on the benelli montefelro and the browning maxus hunter. Wondering if anyone has experience with either of these. Any advice would be great. Eric_Kruger
Check out the Benelli Cordoba or Ultralight. I own the Cordoba and Love it. Wife has the same gun and loves hers as well. If you look at the ultralight its a little less money then the montefeltro and weighs a little less for those long days in the field. As Far as the Maxus. From what it looks like its the same platform as the SX3 and my brother loves his...very reliable gunsThe biggest decision on your choices is inertia driven or gas.....I prefer the intertia benellis as I can shoot better with them. Gas is less recoil from what I have seen.
DanH
+1 on the Monte for Grouse. The 24" 20ga @ 5.5 LBS works well for me.good luck,
brittman
I also have a 24" barrel 20g for ruffed grouse.Tough to have one pheasant/ruffed grouse combo shotgun if you get off the trails when hunting grouse. What works on the farms and prairie does not often work well in the woods. Benelli does offer most shotguns with 26" barrels which helps for a combo gun. NoWiser
+1 on the Monte for Grouse. The 24" 20ga @ 5.5 LBS works well for me.good luck, +2 on this exact same gun for grouse! I fell in love with it the first time I picked it up, and still can't help but smile when I carry it. It's a great gun. I use it for grouse, woodcock, jump shooting woodducks, and even for pheasants once in awhile.I have a Winchester SX2 that I usually use for pheasants and waterfowl. When I have enough money this will be replaced with a 12 gauge Montefeltro, though...Handle a few guns, and when you pick up the right one, you will know it. ReelTimes
I have the Maxus and love it. Use it primarily for pheasant and waterfowl. Very light gun and minimal recoil for a 12 gauge. Prefer 20g for grouse but if you're going to use a 12g, it's a nice lightweight gun. Agree with other poster on checking the ones you're interested in and how they fit. All the guns listed by others are good choices but ultimately what feels best to you (and your budget) is what matters. For me, the Maxus felt the best and I have been pleased with it. gspman
I had a Montefeltro and really liked it but the stock was too short for me. It shot well and was reliable but the length of pull was way too short.
TrollnDrift
I shoot either my 12ga Citori 525, or a 20ga gold hunter depending on what im targeting. I have in reserve a 12ga SX2 as well.

You have one and are looking for something else, just wondering why? Thanks. I just bought a Benelli Super Nova last week. 26"Outstanding gun! I have only shot 12 or so shells through it, but I am very impressed so far.
