Food plot questions???

Recommended Posts

Make sure to pack your plot down when you are done. With 2 acres a cultipacker would be best. In the past I just slowly rolled my plot with the ATV tires. Moving over one tire width till the plot was packed. This step made a HUGE difference in germination of my plots.

Plant the plot to RR soybeans, earliest maturing variety you can get your hands on. About Sept. 1 broadcast rye grain into the standing beans.

Or just plant corn.

I'll second the RR soybeans with rye broadcast into them, the deer on my place come to this before the corn.

Remember, fertilizer is your friend!!! If you're going to put in the time and effort, put some fertilizer down so you get some decent growth.

For more great info goto the food plot forum on the QDM HSOforum, those guys know their stuff!!

How much did your soil test tell you you needed???? wink

Fortunately the soil I've plotted has been awesome and I've never had to fert or lime to have great food plots. Doubt that's the case for you.
