I-pilot or structure scan?

ib_jigged

Question

If you had the choice between adding I-pilot to your exisitng TM or structure scan to your existing HDS5 & 7 set-up, which would you do first?

After rebate on the SS they both are roughly $450 each. I would like to add one or the other this year and add the other next year as the amount of $ already spent on the boat this year is quite high.

Thanks,

Del

I would say if your a walleye dude, the ipilot may get a ever so slight nod.. If your more of a bass/muskie guy the structure scan would get the nod..

I can live without ipilot, matter of fact, I personally have no desire to have one. But you can not pry the SI from my cold dead hands..

just my opinion.

I agree with this. I have i-Pilot and StructureScan and I love both of them. And I use StructureScan much more than I use i-Pilot .... even for most of my walleye fishing. If you're fishing new waters frequently or exploring for new areas then StructureScan definately gets the nod in my opinion.

+1

I don't have the ipilot yet (hopefully next year), but I DO know that my side-imaging is indispensable, both as a fish finding/catching tool and (perhaps more importantly) as a learning tool.

I use the Ipilot way more than the side imaging. However, part of the reason is I have the 798 bird, and the screen is just too small to get tons of detail alot of the time. I think I used my anchor about twice all of last year because the spot lock is awesome on the ipilot.

If you can spare a bit more than $450, you might haggle deals on both at the sports show this weekend. Might find yourself in the "can't afford not to get both" situation.

Either way, both are great tools to have.
