Hello,

In France it's usual to introduce ourselves when you are new member

So I do it mow...

I'm Nicolas, living in Fargo ND since 3 month and I'm in the US for 1 year.

I love fishing, in no kill only. I fish for the sport, and eating it's not a sport mad

I only fish with lures, it's more fun !

I never caught crappie, smallies, muskies, rock bass, and I really hope to catch them !!

As you can see my english is not perfect, sorry about that.

Nicolas

Bonjour Nico.

Welcome to HSO.

Fishing is most certainly an international sport and you have some good waters up there to have some fun!

I'd suggest harvesting a few smaller panfish or walleyes and enjoying eating a few on a shore lunch, it really adds to the experience.

You might want to try cut bait fishing on the Red River. Some of the best Channel Catfish fishing in the country is right in you neighborhood. It is a under utilized resource.

SD is a good place to start for the smallies. You can fish the pre-spawn. In Mn you have to wait for the end of May.

For Rock Bass just look for shallow warm water in the spring. You can see their nests (small huts) when they spawn.

Good Luck

Thank you for the welcoming !

I appreciate !

In France fishes targeted depend of the place you are fishing.

We have perch, sandre (walleye cousin), pike, silure (catfish), trout and largemouth bass. These are the most popular fishes.

In the south, you can found a lot of bass, it's the most popular.

Otherwise, the perch is present in all waters. In France you can catch 60cm perch, 40cm is common. Perch fishing with light tackle was become very famous for the new generation, it's easy to catch and it's finesse fishing.

Lure fishing is more famous in the new generation, more older fishermen usually prefer fish with live bait.

We have a lot of river, big and small size. We have also a lot of lakes, usually more smaller than the couple of huge lake you have here.

I'm in Fargo because I work in NDSU. I'm doctor in chemistry, and I have to do some research here.

I don't really know if Fargo is a good city to live an entire life. But its sure, one year should be enough for me and my wife. We went to Florida couple weeks ago, the weather was .... better !
