Archerysniper
So tonight I decide to change a little on how I cook my brats, Normally I just simmer them in beer and onions then finish them on the grill. I know it's not much of a change but WOW it made a big difference. I still simmered them in beer with 1-1/2 onions but added 2 cloves of garlic and 2 tablespoons of old bay seasoning and man those things were delicious and it's going to be my new go too for brats. Ebiz
I've never really been a fan of simmering and then finishing on the grill. What I usually do is put them straight on the grill over indirect heat until they're cooked through and then brown them over the coals for the last few minutes to crisp them up and give them the grill marks. Makes for a more smokier/grilled flavor.
OnAFly
I don't boil either. When I've done it, I've had problems drying them out. Grill and eat, that's all I do
the squirrel
I grill them first then put them in a beer and onion bath in a low simmer they stay moist for hours and if the skin is broke all the better as they soke in all that flavor
sparkyaber
Next time try a little, or a lot, of fresh ginger grated in with the garlic, onions and beer. It is amazing what that ginger can add to the flavor of bratwurst.
