Where to go?

With this storm that is supposed to dump some snow one us, where is the best in the state. Next weekend will be the only chance I have to go anywhere and I have a real bad itch and don't want to be disappointed.

Fishhawk from watching the weather channels and updates by the minute my best guess would be from Crosslake to Walker and over to Grand Rapids and NE would be your best bet good luck and be safe!!!

We got 12 inches in alexandria and 1-2" expected by friday. Nothing is groomed, but plenty of people out already ditchbanging since school was closed today.

mamohr686 Do you think they are going to groom the trails anymore in alex or is everything to sloppy ,or to late in season, we are thinking about coming up to alexandria this weekend to ride, is there any trailheads or parking areas to drop a few sleds in area????

Trail from Brainerd to St. Mathias isn't any good, we got allot of snow but the swamps and fields leading to St. Mathias are really bad and bare...fyi.

How is the snow? Wet and sticky? With heavy wet snow and warmer temps people need to watch burning a piston down if running a long ways fast like acrossed a lake.

Central Lakes trail around Evansville was groomed yesterday. Started grooming near Ashby past Evansville...no clue how far they continued. Riding the trails with plowed fields is going to be rough. Fun to ride again!

If you're coming up the Brainerd Lakes Area this weekend....bewarned the trails are in rough shape even after the groomers. We went on a 50-60 mile ride from Brainerd to Crow Wing State park down to The Fort and over to St.Mathias and the woods are "ok" but most of the trails are in the open and nonexisting of any snow (melted). I'm actually glad to make it home without braking a ski or wheel and any trail leading through a swamp is now all exposed bumps and horrible. Sorry to give such a gloom report but just wanted to inform the masses that might make the trek to focus on trails with more woods, less swamps so you have an enjoyable weekend.

Be safe and please come up but take it slow, winter isn't over just yet!!!
