Samsung Galaxy or Ipad 2

Typing this on a Galaxy Tab... Bought the iPad2 right when it came out last year and sold it on the online auction site about a month later for more than I paid because they were still hard to get. Picked up a 10.1 Tab a few months after and like it a lot. Didn't care for the Apple iOS and already had an Android smartphone so it was like peanut butter and jelly with the Tab. I like the Android app market better too. Battery life is comparable but probably got about an extra hour from the iPad. I also preferred the widescreen format of the Tab over the iPad. My sister has an iPad2 and she didn't seem all that impressed either...mainly do to lack of Flash support, which after having my iPad for a month finally sent me over the edge and on my way to the UPS drop-off to get rid of the thing.

No regrets. No problems. Great tablet.

If you're leaning towards the iPad, the iPad3 may be out soon which should mean a price drop on the iPad2 if you want to wait.

Love my iPad, but I'm sure I would also love the Galaxy Tab too. I chose the iPad because the Android market didn't have as many great tablet apps as the Apple product.

I would seriously wait until March before buying. The iPad 3 is rumored to be announced then and Samsung is coming out with a new version of the Galaxy Tab sometime this summer.

Honesty you can't go wrong with either. I should ask what you are planning ( hoping) to do with it?

iPad all the way here. iOS apps are much better and apple pushes out new ios firmware to all devices unlike android where the carrier or manufacturer does it instead at there leisure. Because of that if you do go android get the newest model with the newest os on it.

If you do get a ipad2 there should be deals out there with the 3 likely coming soon.

Again it really depends on what he wants to do with it. The cool thing about tablets is the portability and you never shut them off. Jump on do something and be off to something else. Come back and jump on again to read the forum updates then flush the toilet and go back doing something else again.

last i checked.. Laptops were no longer the size of a college text book.. so i see no portability issues... if someone is complaining because they gotta carry something that weights 2lbs.. they best invest in some dumbbells.. not a computer.. and they take all of 2sec to boot up and are ready to rock

ASUS was 2nd on my list behind Toshiba with believe it or not Acer 3rd.....

I'm an AMD guy so I ended up getting a 17" Toshiba Satellite Quad core 3400 versus the Intel5, 6 gigs of ram, 640 HD, BlueRay player, USB 3.0, HDMI out, Harmon Cardon, for under $600 with a 3 year warranty.

I'll echo wish I were fishin. I don't use my laptop either, usually just use iTunes or sync some photos from my camera. The iPad does everything else. I don't write much so there's little point in turning it on these days.

Windows 8 is going to put another nail in that laptop coffin too.
