Any snow left back home?

I've been stuck down here in Nebraska all week and up until yesterday there were big snow piles everywhere. I flew into Omaha last Sunday night and while driving South, down to Lincoln I saw a few coyotes out in the fields. There was cloud cover but with the lights bouncing off the clouds you could see real well for quite a few miles out of town.

I'll have to start checking the non resident regs for the next time I come down here and bring the gun and caller along.

Thanks for the report. Not much difference in the weather from up there to down here. 45 degrees tomorrow down here.

I missed out on the last few days of the fox season in Wisconsin so looks like maybe we'll jump the border tomorrow night and try our luck over there. We've got to get something this month.

Nothing in the fields around my home, were getting flurries now but their melting as they hit the ground. The lakes and ponds are pretty bright though.

AS far as coyotes in Nebraska, they are considered unprotected, but you need to have at least one valid hunting license in order to hunt for yotes.

I'm not sure about fox. I'll have to look into it.

I was reading a predator hunting magazine in the Omaha airport waiting for my flight to leave and a guy asked if I coyote hunted. We talked for about 30 minutes. He was from a town about 45 minutes South of the South Dakota border and does quite a bit of hunting although he hadn't been out much this year. He said he and his son shot 36 last winter while calling and that Nebraska allowed the use of lights for scanning as well and that I needed a general hunting license and thought I might be able to take bobcats too but wasn't positive. He got my hopes up and the fire burning agian. I'll be making some phone calls this week to verify regs and rules and ordering a plat book or two.

I was thinking about bringing my guns down the NE when I go turkey hunting in case we are fortunate enough to fill tags it would be fun to try calling some coyotes.

Sounds like the guy you talked to hunts the same area I will be chasing turkeys.
