...actually, I think it is just the highbeam that is out, or possibly the low beam. When the light is on there blue highbeam light is not on the dash, but it "feels" like the highbeam should be on. Is this just a bulb? It has two bulbs, and both are the same, only works for either the low/high, but not the other.

Thanks for advice!

Yes, I think the highbeam is out, so maybe just a new bulb. But it is odd that it happened on both bulbs at the same time, no? Or maybe I jsut didn't notice that one of the bulbs had a burnt out highbeam until the other died... I will try to part number suggested - is that a bulb and should I get two? Thanks!

HEy guys,

So it wasn't the bulbs. It seems to be the Hi/Lo switch. Hi works fine. Lo only works when I push the blue button IN just a hair. i.e. driving with Hi on all is good. I push/click to Lo and a quick flash of Lo light, then dark. If I press just a hair on the button, Lo comes on until I take my thumb off.

I didn't take anything apart yet to look and see. Might just just be a connection of loosened control screws, or am I hosed and need a whole new control assembly?.... Have never had one apart before. Thanks!

Hi guys,

Bringing this one back from last year! I didn't get it fixed, as we were out of snow and I just forgot. Will try to work on it this weekend.

It is the switch, but where should I start to troubleshoot?

Thanks!

Hey MR, nope I didn't yet. Been working on a ice shack project (12x14 "double wide, haha!) so the XC took a back seat. Not goinig to be up there this weekend, so will have to be the following. I might even just ride it into town and have the shop fix it for me. Still not sure exactly what I will do though.

Try pushing on the high beam button, and see if you can get it to come on. If so, you have the same issue, likely... unfortunately...

My brother had the same problem on his 2000 xc 500, very comin problem on those whole block switches. The little small brass pieces that are in there (under the blue and white push switch) that make the connection are pushed in to far or just plain worn out. You can try to clean them, or bend back the brass peices. We ended up ordering a whole new block assembly, which isnt cheap. You can find them cheaper on one of the big auction sites. If I were you I would just wire it up to a traditional high/low switch, easy to find and a lot cheaper, not to mention a lot more reliable. Only thing that ever happens to those rarely is the soder breaking off a terminal.
