problem with a Frabil tip up

I bought one of the bright yellow Frabil tip ups and it keeps tripping. The shaft seems to be too long and when you set it the flag is about about 30 degrees and won't stay on the handle jobberdo. The Igloo I have keeps the flag down almost to the base. What am I doing wrong or is the Frabil screwed up some how? What's the fix if there is one needed.

Not sure if I'm understanding you right or not. It sounds like the shaft is to long on the top and the flag set is up so high that when you set the flag it keeps popping up and won't set?

If that is so, I would think you'd just push the shaft down.

mine have set screws to adjust the length of that shaft above the pivot point. loosen move and tighten.

Yes, I believe Agro gave you the correct answer. On the round frabill tip ups after moving the tip up shaft from the horizontal position you should be able to push it down so the spool is about 6-8" below the actual tip up and the top tripping mechanism should be pushed down to the tip up body. might take a firm push but it should slide.

My buddy was fishing with the round Frabill tip up and having the same problem all weekend. I'll pass those adjustment tips on to him before he throws it in the trash.

Seems like a foolish design. I suspect that if I move the shaft down then the dang thing won't fold up properly.

Well I looked at it and it actually slides up and down fairly easily. Now the only problem left is the stupid light that came with it and which I cannot get back on the flag.

The lights are frustrating to get on and off, I find it is easier to put it on once it is turned on... and dang near impossible to put back on when it is in the off position.
