Taxidermist for a bear rug/head mount

Hey all, tks for the recommendations on a previous topic about bear trips. So now I have one booked and I may be jinxing myself, but I want to start researching taxidermists that can do up a rug or head mount for me. I've read horror stories about some that do their own tanning and don't do as good a job as a commercial place, etc and the hide ends up smelling so bad the dogs won't even lay on it. So, who do you like, and if you don't mind, about what did it run you?

I'm in the Twin Cities but I'll be driving back from Ontario so I can be flexible about where the taxidermist is.

My buds got his mount back this ps sping an its really cool, its 3/4 mount an it hang on the wall an taking a cautous step forward toward the pile. He has some brush along side it an a loog its steping over. Really cool. Looks just like the bear is taking that one caustous step in to the shooting lane. thats about 7 hundy it ran him but worth it. The shoulder mounts i have are ran me about 325-350 the skullinng ran about 75 bucks. gota get it skulled, really cool piece. I have a gall in ely MN, thats just starting up. shes doing a skull for me right now, i gave her the hide for shop display, so im waiting to see how that turns out. She came highly recomended buy a freind that taught her taxidermy. A perfectionist he called her. The guy who did my shoulders did an awsome job but just seem that he couldnt say no to work an got back logged an would take up 18 mnths o more for a return. so ask that wen u research, whats the return time. Hey who'd ya book with?

Some good contacts. I booked w/ Timbers Edge up near Sioux Narrows. He's on Butterfly Lake which leads into Minnitaki. It's about $1600 + license for the week. Includes a boat, motor, gas, etc. Fish 'til noon, get lunch, hit the stand around 3pm. I checked his success rate and every hunter saw bears, only a couple over the last couple of years didn't get one. And I figure I can check off breakfast at Knobby's off my bucket list.

I shot a bear this past fall and am planning on taking it in for a rug mount within the next week. I've called a lot of places and have been quoted prices anywhere from $90-$160 per foot. I ended up getting a referral from a buddy recently to Tim's Taxidermy in Maple Lake. I am probably going to drop it off there next week. I talked to Tim on the phone and he seemed pretty solid.

Forgot to mention in my previous post, Tim referred me to beetlemybones. He sends a lot of his bear skulls to the guy that owns this place. I will probably send my skull there if I don't do it myself.

I can't remember the Taxidermist in Albert Lee that did my deer but that is who is going to do any future work for me he's spendy but if I'm paying to get it done I want it to look like it's alive which he did with my deer.

Backlog is just why I stopped taking in anymore work.

New clients by referal only and even then its only birds and certain species of small game/fish.

It just dont pay to stack it up in the freezer.Some call it security,I call it liability....

When I get people calling about euro work if I dont send them to Jen then its lucky7 skullworks..Cory has always done a really good BUG job and he is pretty good on price and turn around. Also heck of a deal on bait..
