FISHINGURU
He just tied the all time Vikings sack record, I hope he breaks it and possibly gets the NFL all time sack record today!
Scott M
Jared can blame his buddy Favre for laying down for Strahan in 2001. The only bright spot in a depressing season...
flipper
I would feel a lot better for him if he would learn to control those ridiculous antics on the field. I know many others do it too but there is no place for that carp IMHO. They need a coach like Grant, he would bench a player for that nonsence. Alagnak
The only bright spot in a depressing season... You said it. You can polish a turd but it's still a turd. (of a season) And yeah, there's no need for him to show how good he is at roping up small farm animals. He can do that on his own time.Hellofa player though. reinhard1
yes, one of the best players in the league, always puts out 100%, a leader on the team, and yet some find some fault when he does his rodeo deal. i wish we had more players like him. good luck. Alagnak
I'm just sayin- when you're getting beat in a 3-13 season there's no need to OVER celebrate. It's a TEAM game and I don't care how great of a play or how many sacks you have. It's tacky when you're getting your *** handed to you. How about that vikes D-back running around with the ball like they just clinched a play off spot? LOL That was even better.
flipper
Yeah who does he think he is, dont they realise this is the No Fun League? Congrats to Allen, love the never quit attitude. For those of you who want professional football to go the way of professional wrestling it is perfectly acceptable behaviour.
reinhard1
you have Packer players after making a great play jump up in the stands to get their butts slaped, guys dancing after the play, and more. what should the players do, just act like robots. there is a lot of emotion out there. it makes no different if you are having a great season or down on your luck. they have penalties for over doing it in the NFL. so far Jared is doing fine. good luck. flipper
Happy New Year Reinhard! I don't like it no matter who or what team is doing it. They don't need to act like robots but a little proffessional sportsmanship might be in order.

grizrunner
Alagnak and flipper you guys do have a point about excessive celebration, but what do you really expect? Do you want them to sit in the corner and cry cause they've had a bad year? That interception was what...one of 3or 4 all season. Can't hardly blame them for being really excited over that one. Then Allen breaks a team record, and nearly a dentist's nightmare's record. I like his roping act better than some Fabios or Marleys flexing and kissing their muscles anyway. I guess the celebrations are just a part of the entertainment for the majority now. Just like other sports have changed. Sadly enough the days of Bud Grant and the purplepeopleeaters are gone. I miss those days. Anyways...Nice job Allen. Thanks for entertaining us with your great and emotional play. And Happy New Year to all!! cheddar 86
I haven't heard it mentioned, but personally I believe that Jared Allen's sack total is more impressive. With quite possibly the worst defensive backfield...did he ever really have the benefit of a coverage sack? I highly doubt it. Too bad he didn't beat Strahan. As for the the "humbug" types - take a step back and realize that we watch Football for entertainment. How would it be entertaining when we take all the celebration out of the game? Yeah I laugh when I see people just barely in on a gang tackle jump around, but the term excessive is subjective. FutbolGuru
Well said Cheddar. +1 It's not JA's fault the vikes are losing. He's had one of the best statistical years of all time at his position... and you're telling him not to get excited about it on the field because his team is awful?? Get real. Some of you yahoos on this HSOforum could be handed a $1,000.00 check from a stranger and would complain that it's not a $2,000.00 check. Love the calf rope, Jared; we love you for it. SKOL. flipper
I find football to be immensely entertaining without the World Wrestling Federation behaviour. I don't like it and we don't need it and I am not a humbug. Watching players act like a monkey after a play they are expected to make is degrading to the game. Worse yet, I am seeing this kind of thing creep into High School football and I hold these so called role models responsible.
LMITOUT
It's hard to believe that with such a feared pass rusher like Allen, the Vikes still gave up an average of 28pts/game.*chuckle*
TR21HP
It's not to hard to believe that it takes the other 10 to at least contribute to the cause. 1 player isn't going to make much difference on a football team when the other 10 are at the very best mediocre players. james_walleye
I don't have a problem with the calf roping on the 22nd sack of the season in a 17-13 game. What bugs me is the TD dance or crowd taunt when you've just scored a TD in the 3rd quarter of the game to close the score to 31-10.
LMITOUT
That's the point. People think he's all-world but in reality he didn't mean squat this season except for being a cheerleader on the field trying to get the bored crowd to cheer every play. *yawn* With a poor secondary it meant that teams were going to pass more often against the Vikings which led to more pass rushes and sacks. BTW, the only other team who averaged more "points against" per game this year: Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay. And their coach was sent packing today.Isn't Leslie supposed to be a defensive coach of some sort???
TR21HP
Unfortunately that is the nature or culture of the game today. Team is a distant second to individualistic play sadly. As far as the quote that Bud Grant wouldn't tolerate this play. Think back and he couldn't deal with Alan Page much less today's narcissistic players. The game has changed too much. FISHINGURU
There's nothing wrong with the signature move, it's tough to get a sack in the NFL especially on a horrid team. Like previously said Jared probably didn't even get a single coverage sack. His signature move doesn't get us any penalties and it takes about 3 seconds and it's back to the game.Jared has respect for the game and the players before him, all the old school guys also have tons of respect for Jared, the haters will always hate. james_walleye
Just curious what more you could expect 1 individual to do. Does he have to shatter the sack record next year for you to acknowledge how good he is? I mean I know the answer so u don't have to reply. There isn't anything he can do because you would never acknowledge that. If he had this season for a Jaguar team that had completed the same exact season you would find a way to twist it the other way saying 22 sacks is incredibly impressive. LMITOUT
There's nothing wrong with the signature move, I don't have as much of a problem with his goat roping routine as I do with his constant arm flapping trying to get the crowd excited about a 3-13 team. Another trick he likes to do is to flop around on or around the pile after the play is over and then act like he had something to do with it. Always love that one.
