Ok now i just need everyones opinion on this i have an Mille Lacs 8x16 wheelhouse and just curious do you guys think 9 inches of ice will hold just the house no wheeler no truck just the house. Yea i know ideally you want 16 inches of ice to feel "safe". Just curious on everyones opinons on this.

I think its more of a matter of how you feel.

That is one heck of an investment to put others opinion in somewhat of charge.

Since you wanted opinions, here is mine. 9" of good solid black ice I feel would be enough, but how are you going to get it out there? Helicopter?

You said no truck, no wheeler. smile

If it was mine?? NOT A CHANCE!! I quickly looked up approximate weights and that house weighs in about 5080lbs and a standard cab f150 weights just under 5000lbs. That house has 2 wheels vs the four of a truck thus more weight per tire and more stress. Do what you want, but I wouldn't even think about it!

Pretty tough to give an informed opinion without knowing the accurate weight of the house. Are you sure that there is at least 9" of good ice along the entire path? Single or double axle? Would "maybe" or "probably" be good enough answers, since nobody can say for sure?

Check out the Mille Lacs forum for your answer. I doubt you could even find an access where you could pull it out, by hand, wheeler, truck, or reindeer.

I've had our wheelhouse out on 9'', but that was a different year. Our isn't going out anytime soon, and I'm prepared to not bring it out at all unless we get a very serious snap of very cold weather. Just my .02.
