Gissert
Had a great day today. Fish were totally crazy. probably 40 encounters in 3.5 hrs. Got a 27 and a 32 incher. This one was bigger, and I had no need for a fish that big. She came in about a dozen different times, but this was the best one.

Dan L
Cool video! Just curious as I have never speared before, when a fish comes in like that and you don't want to spear it can you catch it? I know it is legal but how likely is it that you could catch that fish?

I have caught a few pike in that situation I have gotten them to comein to a decoy then jig them to entice a bite with a jig and minnow or a spoon
MJ1657
I have been jig fishing for panfish and reeled it up because a pike comes in and they have went after it.
sandbagger
I have spent a lot of time sight fishing pike with a rod/reel through the ice. Every fish acts a bit different. This past weekend I was out and we had some fish come in and hammer our baits, while others would just check it out and swim by. All depends if they are feeding or not and whether what you are offering looks enticing enough. The clearer the water, the simpler you want your set-up to be so things don't look to strange to them. I usually just use a plain hook and leader (no sinker).
