Can Strikemaster approved service centers fix pitch and auger issues?

Ok buddy and I are trying to avoid driving 1 1/2 hour up to big lake to service what could be a pitch and blade issue cause auger not cutting on fairly year old blades. Does the strikemaster approved service centers fix pitch issues, blades and warranties just like at big lake? He rather spend money on new blades then the drive if possible. Or is driving up to big lake the only way to go?

The guys in New Brighton at D-Rock are very good at setting pitch. I usually bring mine in one a year and I'm in and out in no time. One time I had leave overnight after hitting a rock pile on mil lacs (he fought ith it for about fifteen minutes and asked me to leave it). I don't know how he did it but he got back as good as new that time!

Stop by DRock today. Had them check the pitch on the 8" auger and was informed it was good??? Tooked a looked at my blades and looked good too. So I was scratching my head. Anyhow, picked up a new set of blades and will try the new ones and old ones to see how things turned out.

DRock did not charge me anything for checking out the pitch as there was no issue with it. Im glad we went there instead of driving all the way to Big Lake, not that there is anything wrong with that then saving some Gas money. :P.

DRock's service was friendly and will definitely be back if I ever have an issue with my Strikemaster.

Guys- whats the name D rock mean. I have an older drill that has a pitch problem also. I thought they were just throw aways when that happened. Got a phone number too? Thanks

D-Rock Center sells garden rock and other stuff but they also do SM augers go-figure? confused They are in New Brighton about a block from where I work off Old hyw 8. They are very good to work with. wink

May be dumb, but......is the auger spinning the right way for the blades?

OR...did you start the motor??????ha, whats that noise(as the joke goes)????? I hope the blades do it for you.

You really cant put the blades on wrong or not know which way your auger is spinning. Common sense should fill in.

I don't think blades have anything to do with it, you can have old dull blades or brand new ones out of the package and it will cut the same if your pitch is off.

I understand that but I think they just put shimms under the blades to set the pitch but I could be wrong

I put new blades on my 10 year old laz mag X. it was still cutting ok with old blades but really biting at bottom of hole. the new blades dont cut? i called them and took it to them and they said either RPM or pitch. they tuned it up, said pitch is good. ive had it out this year and it runs a little better, but still doesnt cut. [PoorWordUsage]? im throwing the old blades on to see if i got bad blades. i hate having my fingers near those blades, new or old.

Sent my buddy up there today to get his pitch fixed on his 10" Lazer, the guy said it was horrible and didn't even know if it could be fixed lol.

He got it though, my buddy went out drilling tonight to test it and says it's like new.

Reason I asked is because they say it's common on 10" augers but rarely ever happens to 8" augers.

Although true, but which pitch are we talking about? I have always felt "pitch" is such a vague and slightly poor term to use, but they use it.

Pitch can mean many things such as level, degree, or quality. You can derive a form of "pitch" from both symmetrical and unsymmetrical profiles (lack of better term).

You gather many forms of pitch within the blade and blades, the auger fighting, the shaft, heck even the entire auger.

Standard use:

To oscillate about a lateral axis that is both perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and horizontal to the earth.

When you go in for auger service or have one built, statistically it only means one thing and that is flighting pitch.

Strike Master corrects the flighting pitch of damaged flighting via their in house custom CNC auger straighten lathe center. Been a couple years, so prices may have changes but the last time I stopped by Strike Master unannounced and waited for this their auger service (well the auger had other issues so I bought a new and they had to chuck the suger up to find those issues-at no charge-. It will also depend on how busy they on the waiting), the price of the service was right around the price of SuperDuper Up Sized Wendy's meal with a couple sides tossed in. Not much at all.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
