Im not blaming anyone and im not even angry. I understand the business aspect of it and i know i need to wait my turn. Does not mean i cant be disappointed and wishing for my new locator that im super excited to get and use. Ive been excited about this for a while i guess you could call it kid with a new toy syndrome.

Completely agree! Weren't you one who picked it up on Cyber Monday when GM had that issue with their HSOforum? You got a GREAT deal on it, so you can't complain to much, right? smile

I ordered mine from Reeds. I had to actually call them yesterday to get my tracking number. Should have it sometime today. I second the "llittle boy with a new toy" excitement.

And I do play on playing with this thing on my couch until I get some ice!

I ordered mine from Reeds also, I emailed them yesterday to check on it and they sent a tracking # back within a couple hours.

I see Marcum put the manual online in the support section for those that want to learn how to use it before it get here.

I just got my LX7 today. I have a question for those who do have theirs. After inspecting the unit i noticed that the transducer showed signs of wear ( small chip and a few dings). When i power up the unit, i noticed the transducer makes a clicking noise. The screen pops up and all the displays come up fine, but the screen is cluttered in yellow ( like a normal flasher would look if there was a whole bunch of interferance). And the digital depth keeps reading like 249 feet.

Now, i realize im just playing with it in the kitchen and the transducer is not in the water. For those who have theirs, is yours doing the same thing? Im just wondering if there was damage to the transducer, and if the "interferance" clutter is just because im not using it in water.

They are all over the shelves at the big C, I was just there and could of bought 20 of them if I wanted.

Which one were you at as I have been talking to the Rogers one and they didn't have any. The guy is getting one shipped from another store for me.

if it is chipped I would call customer service.

Like was said above if theres a chip in it then call customer service. as far as the false reading and the ducer noise it is because it was out of the water. you will get the noise and a false reading as its designed to operate while submerged.

I bought mine at Marine General at the ice show. My unit came from them, not from the factory. My unit does have some clutter on the screen like interference. The gain is turned way up from the factory turn it down, and that will go away. Also mine says it's 298 feet. So I wouldn't worry to much about it. I am sure it will work fine on the Ice. Oh by the way my transducer clicks. My lx-5 makes the same noise. It's just more noticable on the lx-7 because the unit itself does not make any noise.

Whew!! Thanks Jimmy. You gave me the answers I was hoping to hear. With it being new technology, i just wasn't sure. The chips on the puck aren't major, just wanted to make sure I was getting the same "reading" that other new units were getting out of the box.

Thanks

Take a breath everyone. At least you've pulled the trigger and have or will soon have a new 7 for the upcoming season.

As for myself....I'm upgrading from my LX3tc. I'm having a tough time trying to decide between the 5 or 7. Waiting to hear some REAL reports from some REAL owners. I think I need to go fishing and think about this......

Icefitchin,

I had someone fall on my MarCum and broke the transducer arm (a 250lb guy will do that). I called customer service and they sent me a new arm and all I had to pay was shipping. It was way past warranty and not Marcum's fault, but they took care of me. On another Marcum unit, I damaged the charging system (my fault). They sent me a replacement for half price over buying it in the store. They have good people there. I'm guessing it is probably busy at MarCum as the ice season is just starting and things get damaged over the summer.

My brother and I have really been hard on three transducers over the past five or six years and they all still work great. In your case, I would send them a picture of the ducer and ask for a new one and see if you can use the ducer you received until you get a new one. Jon Marshall at MarCum is a go to guy and will make sure you are happy.

Please post a report about the 7 when you get it on the ice.

Some minor pitting is normal. Chips are not. They all should give off a clicking noise.

also if your going to play with it out of the water put it in demo mode it will give you real fishing scenarios and you can play with all the settings to see what they do while your resting warmly on your couch.

Well I finally got mine out on the ice yesterday. It was pretty sweet. I fished right next to another lx-5 in the same portable, and there was zero interference between the two of us. The different zoom display is going to take some getting used to. I am kind of dissapointed in the sensitivity of the unit. It is very touchy. I had my gain set at 4 and I thought it was too high my bait was almost 1/2 inch on the zoom (crappie minnow), but on 3 I couldn't see my bait. It made it more difficult to see how close the fish were, it all blended together to much. I couldn't get that super fine line, like the lx-5. I would like to get it down more to that 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch range. The other thing I didn't like, is it automatically sets your 20,40,60 depth range for you. I was in 33 feet of water and it put me in the 80 foot display instead of 40. Not a big deal since I can manually adjust it down to the 40. There is also a few features I am not really sure about what they do. There is a sensitivy, and a target sensitivy. I am not sure what the target sensitivy does. I only got a card talking about the zoom feature in the box. I am not sure if I am missing a owners manual, or if that one card talking about the zoom is it. Did anyone else get a different owners manual? Overall it seems like a pretty solid unit, it is just going to take some time to get use to. Also I had it on the ice for about 8 hours with little drain on the battery.

Bought mine this Wednesday at Big C in Owatonna, I read the owners manual the night before so I could play with the one on display. Had the worker there beside me and he was trying to show me things, but I ended up showing him how to do more things on it that he didnt realize were on there, now I have to wait for the ice to get better around here.

Here is the link to the owners manual.

I'm with Jimmy, I got mine yesterday and spent 8 hours fishing with it and I was in 18 fow and the auto range put me in 40'. My biggest gripe is I manually put it in 20' range and along as I had the flasher and one other feature running like the vertical display it would read 18' in the middle of the flasher like it should but if I went to the flasher only it would read 18' for 2 to 3 seconds and then switch to 15'. Also ever so often the bait, bottom and fish would flash off for a split second. It didn't do this right away but for a while it was doing it about 11 seconds apart and seemed not to do it as much at the end. I also would get a gost blip in the left bottom of one of the dashboard gauges when I would run it in the graph mode.

I was very impressed with the target separation, I brought my camera with and would put the minnow on the bottom and just barely lift the minno of the bottom and I would get separation and you could hardly tell it was off from the camera.

I knew it wouldn't be 100% that's why I held onto my lx5 but with Marcum I know they will take care of it.

I thought I already lost the manual but come to think I don't think I ever seen it.

    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
