Getanet
It's pretty clear the State will have a long court battle with the various tribes if it attempts to build a state-run casino. Going down that road would all but ensure a lengthy and expensive legal fight that would take years to resolve and probably wouldn't come out in the state's favor anyway. When brainstorming funding ideas, a state-run casino would be one of the first ideas I would cross off the list. Scott K
I have always said that lottery tickets, are just tax for the stupid! Gambling is just a form a non tax deductible charity. More power to the people willing to donate to their cause.
Getanet
Then pay for it out of your own pocket. I'm not in favor of any, or at least not much, public money going toward a new Vikings Stadium. But of all the solutions I've read, the White Earth casino seems to make the most sense to me. A state-run casino just seems like such a legal mess there's no point in even starting down that road.
Scott K
You think a state run casino would be a legal mess? Allowing the White Earth band to open a Casino in the metro would be the biggest court battle. If we alow one tribe to build a metro casino off their reservation, I am pretty sure we would have every single tribe at the capitol to get in line to build their casino in the metro. It may look good on paper, but it would never work.
harvey lee
I have to believe that Mystic Lake will want in on this casino game in the metro and will offer more than the WE reservation to get that option. They are just buying us out.I would say no to a stadium if we allow the NA to do what they wish.I would vote for a state run casino or vote no stadium. I also e-mailed my state reps and told them this exact same thing.
gopher_nation
I agree with Harvey 100%. White Earth has their casino, it's called Shooting Star and they should be happy to have one.
motley man
Let the players and owners pay for it! They make way to much now. And it is a private business that the state supports, WHY. But they don't support small businesses that need help.
