Your system requirements are going to be mostly based off of what program you use for editing the videos you capture with the gopro. IMO, what you have already should work for basic editing software, like Windows Live Movie Maker or others like it. If you get into the higher end stuff, you may need more, but I dont really know.

IMO memory is where it is at for video.

I have a 5 year old laptop with 4 gigs and a core 2 duo processor and it gets the job done but takes a while to render the video.

My home built PC has an I7 top end processor and 16 gig ram with a decent video card and there is no comparison.

Like BG said, depends on what program you use and what you want to get out of it. With the lower memory and smaller processors you will be sitting at the laptop longer and waiting. grin

For reference sake, a 1080p video lasting almost 12 minutes is 3.8 Gig....

That was easy. Connected the camera (Hero2) and wi-fi backpack to update the firmware and then updated the phone app. Done. I took a photo, uploaded to my phone, and texted it in seconds. Video is the same process and with either you can select a low res or high res version depending on how big of a file it is.

I see today that they came out with the Hero3+ and now it makes sense why there were sales on the Hero3 the last few weeks. Hopefully this new "+" model corrects some of the issues people were reporting on the Hero3, specifically battery life. They are claiming a 30% increase in battery life and a refined lens with better optics, as well as a faster wi-fi processor with this new model.

I just got a Hero3 recently and (at least for now) will be using it for waterfowl hunting. I read most guys use their cameras on 720p 60fps, so I did that last weekend (first time using it). It turned out just fine but seemed like it could have been more clear. What settings do you guys prefer for head mounted shots vs tripod mounted shots?
