Trespass issue

Recommended Posts

Really? I own 120 acres of land in a heavily hunted public land area. I run 6 trail cameras. Have for maybe 10 years. Owned it for 50. Never seen or heard of anyone on my property other than me and my crew.

"no matter if your in the middle of nowhere, or right on a highway, dealing with trespassers is simply part of the game."

Bull.

Not my normal. Just the normal talk.

For unknown trespassers, I have seen a trail cam advertised that will email photos it takes to an email account (I think there's something like a $10 monthly fee). Setting a cam like this up and having the emails come to your phone would be a pretty easy way to have notification anywhere that someone is using your land. The local sherrif is only a phonecall away.

Then you're one of the lucky, and very rare, landowners who never has to deal with trespassers.

Craig if that has been your experience, that's great for you, but my experience and that of many of my friends/family has been different. if you look at cuffs and collars or CO reports, trespassing complaints are pretty common.

we've all heard the stories of feuds getting out of control (cabins getting burned down, destruction of property, etc) so I've become a huge fan of the respectful, open and patient approach. starting a ugly feud just is not worth it over a coupla deer.

CO Keith Backer (Blackduck)... The deer opener was worked as well as responding to trespass complaints.

CO Robert Gorecki (Baudette) Numerous complaints of trespassing..

CO Stuart Bensen (Erskine) responded to complaints of trespass,

Malinowski ... investigated complaints of trespass

CO Tim Gray (Bagley) .. Trespass and deer baiting complaints were investigated

CO Brice Vollbrecht (Bemidji) Complaints of deer shining, deer baiting, and trespass were investigated.

wow..this weeks district 2 CO reports...every one mentioned trespass complaints. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/enforcement/co_report/report.html?district=district2

It is sad I have to watch 3 of 4 areas like a hawk, trespass issues every year, it's unbelievable really. The worst is the non-trespassers that line your property lines and do not barely hesitate blasting into your land, they have no clue who's in there or if anyone, I accidently jumped a doe one day and it snuck off ahead of me and bang dropped 40 yards ahead of me and the guy oh I didn't see you there, the ? is why are you blasting into my land ? It's really gotten from bad to worse and most don't care at all, big deal it's what 9 days a season and I don't have to pay land payments or property taxes etc. I have the most trouble with those that don't own the land they are on but hunt it and in time they feel like wandering into my land which is better because that's where all the deer are and they get impatient so they see no weekday orange and it's a free for all.

Well so far everything has turned out good. We talked with adjacent landowners Friday and no one claimed to know anything about the stands. No one showed up or walked through all weekend. My friend and his brother are staying the entire season and hope it stays that way. Maybe the talk alerted them to stay out of the area and that is fine with us.

Good to hear Jay. But how did you do up on that ridge all by yourself! wink

Suprising I sat all day Saturday and Sunday and did not see a deer. My buddy shot a doe farther down the ridge Saturday morning and then left the ridge to me. I don't know if it was the wind or wind direction, etc but I refuse to believe that it is not a good location.

My daughter had the hot stand next to the road and 100 yards off the driveway. She had a five minute walk and I walked 35 minutes each way. Since she refuses to shoot at a moving deer and forgot to load her gun once we ended up with the same number of shots fired, 0. Still one of the funnest hunts I have had in a while. I bowhunt to shoot deer and gun hunt to spend time with friends when I can so it was exactly what I was looing for. Thanks for all the replies.
