anyone looking to give away a deer or two?

Recommended Posts

My wife and I lost our deer hunting lease this fall. The guy we

were leasing from for the last 11 years, decided that the $500.00

we were paying him was not enough. We only had deer hunting rights

for two weeks a year, and he and his son hunted the property as

well. We also planted food plots, I paid for seed and fertilizer

he provided the equipment, and fuel which I felt was very fair.

I called him this spring to set up a weekend for putting in the

food plots. He said he was going to call me as he had something

to talk to me about. It seems that another group of hunters, 2

doctors and their kids. Offered him $3000.00 to lease his land

for all hunting rights from Sept. through Dec. He did give me

the opportunity to match their offer. Well that is a little more

than I am willing to pay to hunt deer. So the long and the short

of it, we are not going to deer hunt this year. I do not think I

can go a year without venison. That brings me to my question,

does anyone go hunting that does not want their deer? Or can shoot

an extra one or two for me. I am willing to reimburse you for

your license cost, if that is legal? Or I am very good with a

knife, I could maybe help you butcher your deer in trade?

Good luck hunting this weekend and be SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!

Not throwing in the towel, but many things factoring in to the

situation. Lost lease was up on the north end of Mille lacs.

We stayed in the farmers shop, so lodging is a factor for

hunting in that area. Have a 2 1/2 year old that even though

he wants to hunt probably is not ready. We live south of Buffalo,

public land is over run, private land for deer hunting very hard to

come by. I have some land for muzzle loader hunting, but land will

be hunted very hard during the gun season. Just don't want to be

without venison for the winter. In the north woods, where are you

located? I would not expect you to deliver the deer to me. I would

be willing to drive a ways to pick up.

I am up by Bemidji. So I am guessing we're talking about a couple hundred miles. I would hope that someone closer to your area would be able to get you a deer, as logistically I am probably not the best option, but I'd be happy to try help you out if it worked out.

I live in Buffalo, and if everything goes as planned, I will get more than one deer. I know what you mean about public land being over run around there, I'll let you know when/if I get that second deer. I'd be more than happy for you to take it especially since you got screwed over. I'll let you know!

Thanks for all the offers, I hope everyone has success this weekend. Sounds

like the weather is not going to be the best, pretty warm and very windy.

Just keep me posted as to how you all do, like I said I would be very happy

to take 1-3 deer. Last year we had only two and we have been without for

2 months. We make our own sausage, so we have alot of ways we eat it. As it

looks right now we will not be hunting the rifle season, only the muzzle

loader season. It will be the first deer season in 34 years I am not in a

stand the first morning. I will probably have to put on my lucky orange hat

and sit on the deck at daybreak and listen to the action.

Good luck and be safe!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like most everyone had a pretty dismal season so far. I have talked

to a lot of guys that have seen 1/10th of the deer they normally see. I sat

out on my deck opening morning for the first hour of light and only heard

5 shots. I am still hoping that someone has an extra deer or two they may

want to part with, but with as poor as hunting has been I am not to optimistic. We are going to hunt the muzzy season, but the farm we will be

hunting has been pounded pretty hard already. Good luck to all you guys

that have another weekend to hunt!
